Dead Space 3 is a multi-platform computer game in the action/survival horror genre developed by Visceral Games. The global publisher is Electronic Arts. The publisher in Russia is EA Russia. The release of the third part of Dead Space took place in early February 2013 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Dead Space 3 is a direct continuation of the first two games in the series.
The events of Dead Space 3 take place some time after the events described in the second part of Dead Space. Isaac Clarke, who has experienced many tragic moments in the past, is hiding in one of the space metropolis stations, trying to live like an ordinary person – without necromorphs, Obelisks, blood, and brutality. But peace is only a dream for him. Soon, representatives of EarthGov arrive, persuading him to join an expedition aimed at destroying the source of the necromorphs, located on the planet Tau Volantis. Although Isaac does not want to plunge back into the abyss of madness, he agrees to EarthGov's proposal. Firstly, this way he will be able to see Ellie, one of the participants in Dead Space 2, whom he is hopelessly in love with, and secondly, he will have a good chance of survival. The thing is, the Unitology church followers led by the psychopath Danik blow up the Obelisk on the station – almost immediately after the fateful conversation between Isaac and his new acquaintances. As a result of the catastrophe, the metropolis turns into a real "necromorph graveyard" – a place not quite suitable for the life of an ordinary person. The only way out is to run, and also save the galaxy. And that’s exactly what Isaac successfully does.
About a third of the game is dedicated to Isaac wandering through the damaged stations and spaceships hanging in orbit around the planet Tau Volantis. During this period, Dead Space 3 resembles itself, as players need to travel through narrow corridors and small locations. Piles of corpses, blood on the walls, floors, and ceilings, as well as hordes of necromorphs are included. But after a harsh landing on Tau Volantis, it becomes clear that Dead Space is no longer quite the game it used to be. In the third part, Dead Space features open spaces, and sunlight can often be seen here, while exploring the interiors of underground bases and camps happens almost less often than walking in the fresh air. As a result, Dead Space has lost its signature oppressive atmosphere, though there are still some moments that are truly frightening.
What else can be noted from the changes? In addition to the change of scenery and Isaac's departure from closed environments, there are several innovations, some of which can be called radical. First of all, it is worth noting the overhaul of the store and the workbench. The store in Dead Space 3 has turned into a wardrobe where players can change suits and upgrade the Kinesis, as well as improve the properties of stasis. The workbench, in turn, has "upgraded" to the state of a real crafting panel. The workbench allows players to create any weapon literally from scratch, and not just from blueprints. It is also important to mention the introduction of a cooperative mode for two players. Not only does the storyline change somewhat during cooperative play, but special bonus missions are also unlocked. Another "feature" of the cooperative mode is the hallucinations suffered by John Carver, Isaac Clarke's partner. This is interesting, but what Carver sees cannot be seen by Isaac. During another attack, John begins to behave unnaturally and sometimes even aggressively – even towards Clarke.
