Dvemery "Legends or Truth"
The race that disappeared as mysteriously as it emerged...
The Dwemer are the most interesting (in my opinion) race in all of Tamriel.
In studying the race of "Deep Elves" or "Deep Dwarves," scholars have encountered various disagreements, as there are no true facts available. There are many speculations about this race, making it even more enigmatic and mysterious.
According to many scholars of Tamriel, the Dwemer are mythical and fantastic beings that, in general, look "exactly like us." In fact, one can judge the appearance of the Dwemer only by a few statues found in Morrowind. The Deep Elves are somewhat shorter than the average human, with dark, curly hair and long, pointed ears. They may seem very eccentric, but not at all frightening and dangerous.
"Mysterious, powerful beings capable of altering the laws of nature at will. They have vanished, but they did not perish," claim the Redguard scholars.
According to the Nords: "Dangerous warriors who indulge in depraved religious practices, using their unholy machines to drive the Nords out of Morrowind."
According to some scholars from the University of Magic in Tamriel: "The Dwemer are the pinnacle of creation."
The History of Appearing and Disappearing
The earliest Dwemer structures were found in Morrowind and date back to the 420th year of the First Era. Around this same time, Dwemer constructions appeared in other parts of Tamriel: in Cyrodiil, Vvardenfell, Skyrim, and High Rock.
There is a theory that the clans and tribes of the Dwemer settled in various corners of Tamriel to build new settlements more isolated from the outside world.
Next came a war between the Chimer (the Dwemer's kin) and the Dwemer over the great artifact of the Heart of Lorcach.
This is the reason for the disappearance of both the Chimer and the Dwemer. There exists a legend that the Heart of Lorcach cast the Chimer and Dwemer beyond the bounds of the Mortal World (the planes of Mortals). In any case, the Dwemer vanished without a trace, leaving us only their great architectural constructions and scientific achievements.
The Dwemer disappeared during the Second War at Red Mountain in the 700th year of the First Era.
Dwemer Architecture
The Dwemer (the name derived from the designation of Morrowind during the First Era "DWEMERET") were the most advanced race in all of Tamriel. Among many constructions of the Deep Elves, the ruins of Vvardenfell stand out, which are very different from the ruins of Skyrim, High Rock, and Morrowind.
The structure of the Vvardenfell ruins is quite peculiar: most of the working (main) halls were located at the very surface, while in other ruins, the working halls were found deep underground. The relief of the terrain and its type played a significant role in the architecture.
The mark to which the Deep Elves excavated entrance tunnels before beginning construction of the main halls is called a GEOCLINE. Most often, the geocline coincides with the location of the Depth Hall of Assemblies and always indicates the depth at which the city is located.
Above the geocline, there were most often storages, barns used for trading with the surface dwellers. These tunnels were laid out in a random manner (depending on the type of rock), as opposed to the structures deeper underground, which were built according to strict blueprints and calculations. In some ruins, references to geological anomalies found in the deepest parts of Dwemer settlements have been discovered. Tables with the sign of anomaly (or "Boundary of the Darkness Kingdom" in translation from the Dwemer language) are found in Skyrim in Alfthan, Irkntand, and Mzichalefte.
Culture and Faith
Judging by the records found in the ruins of abandoned Dwemer settlements, the Deep Elves worshipped a certain Mundus. However, this opinion is not universally accepted. The commonly accepted view is the absence of any faith among the Dwemer.
Thus, the status of the clergy of the Dwemer is a mystical culture that reflects the architecture, metallurgy, and scientific discoveries of the Dwemer.
The Dwemer developed their civilization based on logic and science. In their settlements, they have several halls dedicated to research: Animatoria and Ocularia.
In the Animatoria, the Dwemer designed mechanisms to create centurions and many other advanced machines.
Since magical artifacts (soul stones, various enchanting devices) are often found in the settlements of the Deep Elves, it is believed that the Dwemer also practiced magic.
In the Ocularia, they studied astronomy. With the help of beams and mechanisms, they collected starlight and used it to create intelligent machines.
