Moon Moths
Dance of the Moon Moth
The night was darkening, and around the stones
Two moon moths were swirling.
Here under the moon, your eyes
Enchanted me forever.
Cheek to cheek, hand in hand,
Let’s dance together.
Life is short, and to wait until
We reach the ballroom is not worth it.
For the moths, the whole night is light –
They drift carelessly and thoughtlessly
In the moonlit flow, until
Death silently catches up with them.
Come to me, and under the moon
We will dance the tango together.
Hand in hand, cheek to cheek,
As long as we exist in this world.
For the moths, the alchemist god
Soullessly tears off their wings,
And their flight from lunar notes
Is added to his potions.
So don’t be sad, dance with me,
While the wings of hearts flutter,
Perhaps the gods will snatch them,
Mixing them in a drink with lunar dust.
I return the sung verse for public judgment
Freeze, step… Forget all bets,
Leave all debts and worries behind.
Press against me, dance under the moon,
On this forgotten road.
