"Battlefield 1" is a first-person shooter video game developed by DICE for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was released on October 21, 2016.
This is the fourteenth game in the Battlefield series. The number "1" in the title indicates that the setting and historical basis for the game is World War I. The geography of virtual battles is quite extensive: from France and Italy to the Arabian Desert. At the time of the game's release, it featured Britain, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy, the Ottoman Empire, and the USA. France and the Russian Empire were promised by the developers as DLC.

Witness how war engulfed the entire world. Play on maps scattered across the globe. Dodge collapsing buildings in the French city of Amiens during the spring German offensive. Confront the enemy on the cliffs of Monte Grappa in the Italian Alps, battling for strategically important fortifications. Advance inch by inch through the trench-riddled no man's land in Northern France. Fight on the Adriatic coast, determining the fate of a small Mediterranean village. This is just the beginning – much more awaits.
Show your strengths by choosing one of five unique classes. Play as an assault player, crushing enemies in close combat and destroying vehicles. Play as support, supplying teammates with ammunition and suppressing enemies with fire. Play as a medic, keeping your comrades alive and vehicles operational – or be a scout, staying back and picking off enemies with a sniper rifle. If none of these roles appeal to you, jump into a plane or tank and be a pilot or gunner. Then you can strike enemies with heavy firepower.
"Battlefield 1" has a vast arsenal of weapons, most of which were created or perfected in World War I: powerful shotguns, rapid-fire submachine guns, destructive light machine guns, balanced semi-automatic rifles, sidearms – weapons of last resort, reliable sniper rifles, and a wide variety of melee weapons (for those wanting to get up close and personal). Whatever your style, there is a weapon for it.
Shift the tide of battle in your favor with large and small vehicles and cavalry. Horses, tanks, biplanes – all this and much more will be available to you in battle. If things go terribly wrong, you can rely on the so-called giants – the largest and most unique vehicles in the Battlefield series. They can turn the tide of battle in an instant. Rain fire down on the enemy from the sky, piloting a colossal airship; race like a steel arrow, driving an armored train; or bombard the land from the sea using battleship guns.
You can engage in battles in "Battlefield 1" in various ways. Participate in fierce skirmishes for objectives in the signature "Conquest" mode or clash with the enemy up close in the "Domination" mode dedicated to infantry skirmishes. Try something entirely new in the "Operations" mode, where two teams fight across multiple maps. Attackers must break through defenses and push the defenders to the next map, while the latter will stop at nothing to hold back the advancing forces.
