Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a game that revives the good old Counter Strike 1.6, which is rapidly losing popularity due to the Battlefield and Call of Duty series. CS: GO was developed by the famous corporation Valve in collaboration with Hidden Path Entertainment. The game includes not only new maps, characters, and weapons but also enhanced graphics on the updated Source engine, as well as new game modes, an updated interface, matchmaking system, achievements, player tables, and much more.
However, many features of the game have undergone changes. The maps from classic CS 1.6 are almost unrecognizable due to updated textures and scattered models throughout the map, some of them have even been completely reworked - for example, in de_dust, the developers created a bridge over the point where the underground passage ends near the “respawn” of the counter-terrorist team.
The arsenal has also been revamped. The models of the favorite guns have become more realistic, and their combat characteristics have been changed. Assault rifles have become harder to use at long range, while shotguns have increased power, allowing players not to focus on just one cool weapon. By the way, the developers didn’t hesitate to add new types of weapons. Terrorists now have access to the semi-automatic pistol Tec-9, while the counter-terrorists have been given the Heckler & Koch P2000. Both pistols can be purchased at the beginning of the game. There is also one new shotgun, totaling three - Nova (XM1014), Mag-7, and sawed-off. For submachine gun enthusiasts, the developers have prepared the PP-Bizon (terrorists), MP7, and MP9 (CT). Some “pop guns,” by the way, have been removed – the TMP and MP5 submachine guns have disappeared. In return, the developers added the Israeli equivalent of the M249 machine gun, the IMI Negev. Additionally, a new shock pistol, the Zeus x27, has appeared in the game, limited to just one shot but endowed with incredible firepower.
The grenade arsenal has also been supplemented by a Molotov cocktail and an electronic decoy grenade. The Molotov cocktail will help delay enemy forces from approaching strategically important locations by creating an impassable wall of fire. The electronic grenade distracts the enemy (or lures them into a trap) by producing gunshot sounds that are supposed to confuse the opponent. Now each type of grenade has its unique “callout” - “Fire in the hole!” for explosive, “Decoy out!” for decoy, and so on. Note that it’s not the grenade that shouts.
