For hundreds of years, the Order of the Sword protected the coastal city of Fortuna from the invasion of the forces of Darkness, eradicating the denizens of the Abyss with fire and sword. For hundreds of years, the warriors of the Order worshipped Sparda, a powerful demon who once fought on the side of humanity. For hundreds of years, it seemed that the prosperity of Fortuna was threatened by nothing and no one, until Dante, the son of the legendary Sparda, appeared in the city. Fierce and unbeatable, he stormed into his father's temple, ruthlessly exterminating the Knights of the Sword, who were unprepared for the attack. Only one of them, a young Nero, was able to confront Dante and drive him away thanks to his supernatural abilities.
