Far Cry 3 is a multi-platform computer game developed by Ubisoft (or, more precisely, several subsidiaries: Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Shanghai, and others). The world's publisher is again Ubisoft. In Russia, the publisher of Far Cry 3 is the company "Buka." The game was released at the end of November 2012 on three major platforms: PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
It cannot be said that Far Cry 3 revolutionized the gaming industry, but this product of Ubisoft's creativity can be fully considered one of the best shooters released in 2012. The developers took into account many controversial aspects of Far Cry 2, and ultimately presented the audience with a holistic project featuring a living world, where every gamer can find something to do. The island no longer seems empty, which is one of the main advantages of Far Cry 3 compared to the previous games in the series. Local inhabitants are engaged in their activities in scattered settlements across Rook Island, while diverse island fauna roam the forests and hills, including some quite aggressive specimens. For example, giant monitor lizards and leopards that enjoy a taste of human flesh. Conversely, if the main character ventures into the ocean or enters a river, he may be attacked by bloodthirsty sharks and vicious crocodiles, respectively.
If you remember, in the second part of Far Cry, it was nearly impossible to capture enemy strongholds—eliminated enemies would respawn after some time in various points on the map, resulting in the need to conduct new punitive operations repeatedly. In Far Cry 3, this is not the case; once captured, a base remains under the player's control until the very end. It should also be noted that the camp (which is happily occupied by the allies of the main character, the Rakyat tribe, after being cleared) turns into a sort of checkpoint, allowing the player to fast travel at any moment, thus avoiding lengthy runs across the island.
Yet sometimes you just want to wander around, drive jeeps or motorcycles, swim on jet skis, and even fly on hang gliders while admiring the surrounding landscapes. But the world of Far Cry 3 is not just beautiful scenery, far from it. There are dozens of ways to entertain yourself, from mini-games to butchering slain animals (for a new ammo pouch, of course) and gathering herbs for potion-making. In short, you won’t be bored in the single-player campaign. It is also worth noting that Far Cry 3 introduced the possibility of playing the game in cooperative mode, although the story in co-op is presented quite differently.
A few words about the plot. The protagonist, Jason Brody, goes on vacation with friends and brothers to an extraordinarily beautiful tropical island for some fun. For example, to skydive with a parachute and sunbathe on the beach. But the whole honest company gets captured by pirates, among whom a particularly colorful character named Vaas stands out. Essentially, Jason manages to escape from the clutches of the killers and bandits, but during his escape, one of his brothers is killed. Thus begins the protagonist's journey, a path of vengeance where there is no place for justice. Jason begins an operation to rescue his comrades still held captive, gradually transforming from a pampered city boy into a real killer. Will he be able to control his rage, or will primal fury take over his mind? Play the game to find out...
