Mortal Kombat, or "Fatality", is a remake of the famous fighting game and the ninth game in the Mortal Kombat universe. Developed by WB Games Chicago (formerly known as Midway Games Chicago, now Netherrealm Studios). It was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms at the end of April 2011.
The plot of Mortal Kombat unfolds some time after the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. The battlefield is littered with fallen warriors, with only two remaining alive: Raiden and his opponent, Emperor Shao Kahn. Ultimately, Raiden loses the battle, but manages to cast a spell to send a message to himself in the past, with the mysterious content: "He must win." Who must win and why Raiden from the past's medallion starts to crack - all this will be revealed during the gameplay of the ninth installment of Mortal Kombat.
In total, there are about thirty main characters in Mortal Kombat. Players will once again meet Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, Shiva, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Scorpion, and many other characters. Exclusively for PS3, Mortal Kombat introduces a character named Kratos, the hero of the renowned God of War saga. Additionally, with downloadable content, the following heroes are available: Kenshi, Rain, Scarlett, and even Freddy Krueger.
Thanks to a special option, players can unlock classic outfits for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, as well as for Kitana, Jade, and Mileena. However, unlocking them requires entering a special code.
Kratos is a full-fledged playable character in Mortal Kombat, possessing his own biography and story. In battle, he uses nearly all of his arsenal from the third part of God of War (the Bow of Apollo, the Blades of Athena, etc.). Like other characters, he has his own special moves and fatalities.
Various esteemed gaming publications rated the Mortal Kombat remake quite highly, noting the presence of a large number of characters and careful attention to the graphic component. According to them, the game turned out to be very stylish and dynamic. The gaming audience also warmly welcomed the new installment of Mortal Kombat. Essentially, all the main virtues of the previous Mortal Kombat installments have been combined into one game, with new graphics and a new "life". Over a million copies of Mortal Kombat were sold worldwide.
The game presents itself favorably compared to Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, which during its development lost the HD tag and became a simple port of three old games for the new generation of consoles. If you are drawn to innovations and do not view the past with a sad gaze, then the Mortal Kombat remake from 2011 will surely delight you.
