"Prey" is a multi-platform first-person shooter developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was released on May 5, 2017, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Originally, "Prey" (specifically, "Prey 2") was being developed by Human Head Studios as a sequel to the original "Prey," which was released in 2006. However, in 2012, the project was put on hold at the initiative of Bethesda Softworks, and in 2014, it was announced that it would be completely canceled. Nevertheless, the publishers were not ready to give up on the promising franchise. Deciding to reboot the series, they assigned the development of the new game to the Austin branch of Arkane Studios. The announcement of the "Prey" reboot took place on June 12, 2016, during E3.
The events of the game take place in an alternate universe where U.S. President John F. Kennedy was not assassinated in 1963. At his initiative, additional funds were allocated for the development of the space program, which became a cornerstone for future successes in this field.
"Prey" takes place in 2032 aboard the space station Talos I, which orbits the Moon. Talos I was built during Kennedy's administration and was used by various groups for decades. However, it is now abandoned, and instead of people, mysterious alien creatures roam its corridors and compartments. Playing as Morgan Yu (the protagonist's gender can be chosen), you must uncover what really happened there and what secrets it holds.
