Resident Evil 6 is a multi-platform computer game developed by Capcom. The publisher in Russia was 1C-SoftClub. The console version of the game (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) was released on October 2, 2012, while the PC version release was postponed until 2013.
The game's events unfold several years after the events described in the fifth part of Resident Evil. The T-virus and its mutated strains continue to plague the world, new mutants and zombies appear in different cities around the globe, and humanity, as you might expect, battles them with all available means. Not all of humanity, of course, but only special forces and heroes well-known to players from previous games in the Resident Evil series.
The developers decided not to confine Resident Evil 6 to just one campaign but created three separate storylines, plus an additional bonus in the form of a fourth episode. Essentially, all campaigns in Resident Evil 6 turned out to be completely different games, each with its unique heroes and gameplay.
The first campaign offers you to play as the notorious Leon Kennedy. The hero visits the President of the United States to unveil the mysteries related to the zombie invasion in Raccoon City. However, by the time Leon arrives, the President has already been infected by the well-known virus, so the hero couldn't talk to him – a couple of shots and the President was gone. It turned out that the city was also infected, so Leon couldn't escape easily – he had to fight through hordes of zombies with all the resulting consequences. But Leon is no fool and knows how to deal with the undead, and his partner, Helena Harper, is a very useful team member.
The second campaign highlights the story of B.S.A.A special forces fighter Chris Redfield, who, with the support of his colleague Pierce Nivans, begins a real war with zombies. This is no longer the infamous survival horror as in the episode with Leon Kennedy, but something more akin to Call of Duty – lots of shooting, many soldiers, and military equipment appears quite often. Zombies have become much smarter – now they don't just try to bite or scratch people to death, but use real firearms in their struggle.
The third campaign is dedicated to a new character in the Resident Evil series – Jake Muller, the son of Albert Wesker. He fights alongside Sherry Birkin, the heroine of the second part of Resident Evil. Jake does not know about his origins and fights for good. The grown-up Sherry, who also had issues with her father in the past, is a special government agent. Both heroes have the zombie virus in their blood, but they managed to suppress it in different ways. However, a certain side effect remains – the partners possess strength that exceeds human capabilities. Sherry and Jake can kill an ordinary zombie with a single kick, and close combat is not something exceptional for them.
If all three campaigns are completed, the fourth storyline featuring Ada Wong will be unlocked. It is worth noting that the time required to complete each episode is approximately 10 hours. Resident Evil 6 can be played either solo or in cooperative mode.
