Announcement of HONOR Magic8, MagicPad3 Pro, and Innovative AI Technologies at the Snapdragon Summit 2025
At the Snapdragon Summit 2025 in China, the HONOR brand unveiled innovations in embedded artificial intelligence developed in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies. Among them is the low-bit quantization technology for AI models and the latest hybrid search technology. The first devices to benefit from these advancements will be new releases — the HONOR Magic8 smartphone series and the HONOR MagicPad3 Pro tablet based on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
“HONOR is betting on artificial intelligence. Our main guideline is the HONOR ALPHA PLAN — a strategy that will define our emergence as a global leader in the AI device ecosystem,” said Fang Fei, President of HONOR Device Co., Ltd. — “Thanks to partnerships with leaders like Qualcomm Technologies, we are continuously expanding the capabilities of embedded AI, allowing us to unlock human potential and create a new concept of an intelligent future.”
“Our partnership with HONOR is measured not only in years but also in the number of joint projects,” remarked Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Devices at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. — “The results of this alliance are numerous breakthroughs, the latest of which, presented today at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 in China, will soon appear in HONOR products. These achievements demonstrate our innovations in AI agents operating directly on-device, as well as the power of our heterogeneous computing architecture.”
A New Standard of Efficiency: A Breakthrough in Local AI Speed
HONOR and Qualcomm Technologies announced a new phase of cooperation aimed at ushering in an era of the “dual engine” that combines AI agents and performance enhancement.
HONOR found answers to three challenges of embedded AI: lack of computing power, large memory volume, and high energy consumption. Thanks to the new Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, it introduced the first low-bit quantization technology for Android, which improves modeling performance by 15%, reduces the resource consumption of the model by 20%, and saves 30% of storage space compared to previous HONOR devices. This sets a new benchmark for the effective use of intelligent agents on the device.
In addition to low-bit quantization technology, HONOR introduced next-generation hybrid search that fundamentally changes the approach to information processing and search on the device. By integrating keywords and vector labels, the system finds matches in texts, images, and videos in milliseconds, improving overall search performance by 50%. This progress accelerates semantic search and enhances the capabilities of intelligent agents, providing them with speed and accuracy in various everyday scenarios.
Creativity Without Borders: Magic Color Technology Based on AI-Agent
HONOR presents the industry’s first Magic Color technology based on an AI agent. It allows users to change the style of photos and videos with a single request: finding an image, extracting color correction, and applying it to a new object using simple voice or text commands. By combining high-performance local AI models, Magic Color makes complex photo editing accessible to everyone. In the future, HONOR plans to implement similar agent capabilities in over 200 specialized and 3,000 everyday scenarios, including the most popular applications.
Revolution in Performance: Gaming AI Super Sampling from GPU and NPU
Performance is the second key element of the new strategy. As part of the collaboration with Qualcomm, HONOR announced the innovative Hyper-Fusion core architecture that unites HONOR Turbo X engines and Qualcomm Oryon CPUs. Dynamic management of core resources achieves maximum energy efficiency and power, ensuring smooth and instantaneous system response to user actions.
HONOR unveiled the first industry AI super sampling GPU-NPU technology for Snapdragon, which transforms low-quality games into high-resolution content with high frame rates. Similar to the DLSS technology on PCs, it uses artificial intelligence to reconstruct details, motion features, and lighting effects in real time. In practice, this allows demanding games to run at 120 fps/1080p instead of 60 fps, combining ultra-clarity with ultra-smoothness. Compared to traditional GPU-based upscaling, this heterogeneous GPU-NPU computing architecture reduces latency and flicker, guaranteeing a smoother and more engaging gaming experience.
Together, these innovations constitute HONOR's vision of the era of the “dual engine,” where optimization of AI agents and performance unite to enhance the user experience, bringing forth an era of universal intelligent assistants. Both new releases — the flagship HONOR Magic8 smartphone series and the HONOR MagicPad3 Pro tablets powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform — will be showcased in China next month.
