[Biography] Adam Jensen

First and foremost, it is important to note the key fact of Jensen's biography - he is the protagonist of our journey.

The first mentions of Adam date back to 1993, which is considered the official year of his birth. Five years later, he was adopted by his foster parents, Marge and Arthur Jensen, who worked in a secret laboratory called "White Spiral." Interestingly, his father is a combat veteran of the "Desert Storm" operations, while his mother is a drug addict on antidepressants, though the reasons are not specified.

Before starting work at "White Spiral," the Jensens attempted to adopt a child several times in Michigan, but due to Marge's condition, they were always denied. It is unclear why they were invited to participate in the secret experiments at "White Spiral," but in 1998, they had a child named Adam, who is undoubtedly connected to this laboratory and is most likely the result of the lab's experiments on the human genome. This conclusion can be drawn from the fact that by the end of the game, we learn from Megan that her beloved "Patient X" is indeed Adam himself, who does not experience rejection from the implants even six months after they were installed. We should also not forget that the secret owner of "White Spiral" is Hugh Darrow, who eventually becomes our main antagonist. However, immediately after Adam's adoption at the age of 5 (he was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 3, 1993), the "White Spiral" lab burned down, and all materials were lost, so it is POSSIBLE that Hugh Darrow did not know about Adam; at least, he never hinted at it.

What Adam was doing from 1998 to 2014 is unknown, but he likely went to school like all children. In 2014, at the age of 21, he joined the Detroit police force and, by 2018, was accepted into the SWAT team for his excellent service and placed under the command of Quincy Durant,


an Iraq War veteran, friend, and comrade of Adam until 2020, when Adam became the commander of the second unit following the serious injury of Durant by the criminal Tyrell "Tiger" Banks.

The next significant turn in Adam's life occurred in 2025 in Mexicantown, where Adam refused to shoot a modified teenager, and his subordinate had to do it. Immediately after this, he began to have problems with his superiors, breaches of decorum, temper control issues, and, as noted by the psychologist working with him, post-traumatic syndrome. Despite the love and respect of his colleagues, someone from above filed a report on Jensen, and soon he was fired. Later that year, he received an offer from Megan, followed by one from Sarif Industries to become the head of security. Although he had known Megan prior to his service at Sarif, it was here that he fell completely in love with Dr. Reed, and they even dated for a while but broke up shortly before 2027 for unclear reasons (though it was likely that "they just didn't get along"), while maintaining a warm relationship and Adam continuing to have feelings for her. There is a possibility that right after the game ends, they will resume their relationship.

In 2027, he was preparing security plans for Megan's appearance with a sensational statement that the problem of implant rejection had been solved in Washington when a squad of augmented mercenaries, the Tyrans, attacked the research laboratory for which Jensen and his team were not responsible. In an attempt to save Megan, Adam was nearly killed, likely even completely (as he received a bullet to the head, precisely where the brand is located on his forehead), by the group commander Jaron Namir. Presumably, Megan and the other scientists in her research group were also killed.

To save his life, Jensen was implanted with military-grade augmentations from Sarif Industries – including two mechanical arms connected to a metal base inside his chest, retractable sunglasses that also protect the ocular prosthetics from fire, gas, explosions, and bullets, and various other implants installed by Sarpatech specialists. Given that he only lost his left arm, a significant portion of his body and organs, and suffered brain damage, according to his contract with Sarif Industries, they replaced his right arm, both legs, both eyes, and ear prosthetics for enhanced perception; they even did some work on his brain.


He was then sent home to come to terms with his new body and learn to control it again. Due to significant brain damage, doctors were unable to activate all combat upgrades, or rather, they did not dare to. Despite this, they set the implants to "auto-activate" during the time required for Adam to master each implant.

Six months later, relatively healthy, Jensen was sent by David Sarif to the Sarif Industries factory in Milwaukee, which was seized by human purity advocates known as Purity First led by Zeke Sanders, to find some forbidden technologies and any amazing savagery. Adam was sent to find and rescue the prototype Typhoon Explosive System and, if possible, to free hostages.

The Incident in Mexicantown

Despite the fact that officially the problem in that operation was the killing of the modified teenager, something else actually occurred. And it all began with the story of Quincy Durant...

In a clash with "Tiger" Tyrell (a former professional fighter who lost both arms), who was accused of murdering a prostitute, Quincy lost an arm and suffered injuries to his body and face, and "Tiger" was shot by Jensen. Quincy wanted to die, but Jensen would not allow him to do so. In hospital, Quincy was offered augmentations, after which he said, "How weak human flesh is," and agreed. By the time Durant returned, Jensen had already become the squad commander in his place. Perhaps by then Quincy already considered him a traitor. The returned friend Adam was made commander of the second squad, after which he, with his new arm, enthusiastically returned to work. He killed gangsters left and right, cleared half of Detroit of mobsters, instilling in his people the same feelings he felt himself... And then a riot occurred in Mexicantown, where Durant and his men began shooting at the rioters and demonstrators with the same enthusiasm. This led to a shootout between Adam's squad and Durant's squad. Durant was shot dead by Adam himself...

The government covered up the incident by spinning the scene with the modified teenager, and journalists eagerly swallowed the sensation. Jensen soon left the department.

Adam's Hobbies:

Upon entering Adam's apartment for the first time, we notice a large work desk and a pile of gears and other parts on the table. Also, in the center of the room lies a book dedicated to the Al-Jazari clock, the first accurate water clock.


Based on these two facts, we can conclude that Jensen was interested in clock construction, or perhaps just collected rarities from Arab scientists. The following findings in Adam's apartment support this:
