What we know
"Rocksteady" has already hinted at the plot for the sequel in the first part of Batman. And since enough time has passed since the release of the second part, let's find out what curious fans have uncovered.
First of all, I'd like to remind you that "[Batman: Arkham 3](/games?search=Batman: Arkham 3)" has not yet been announced, so everything I discuss from this point onward may not necessarily be true. This is a synthesis of facts from which a picture of the next installment can be formed. And I think I won’t remind you that if you have not yet completed "[Batman: Arkham City](/games?search=Batman: Arkham City)", you should postpone reading this article, as it is filled with spoilers.
One of the strangest and biggest discoveries from "Arkham City" is the possible pregnancy of Harley Quinn by the Joker. This intriguing plot twist could serve as a foundation for the storyline in the next part. However, one aspect must be considered: for the potential child to cause any harm, they must be at least a teenager, and that is quite a large time gap between "B: AC" and "B: A3".
However, given that the possible father of the child died because of Batman, the future offspring has every chance of becoming a very vengeful and cruel villain, especially under the influence of a mother like Harley.
After completing the side mission titled "Face Stealer", you will have a one-on-one encounter with Hush. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned, and the villain escapes. However, before that, he managed to mention his strange plan to create a perfect copy of Bruce Wayne's face.
After fleeing Arkham City, Hush will start hunting Bruce Wayne himself, still unaware of who is hiding behind the Batman mask. Therefore, there is no doubt that the Dark Knight must stop the villain before irreparable damage is done.
Clearly, the developers know that Hush is a fan favorite, which is why he escaped and remains at large. This clearly hints at a significant role in the next installment. Moreover, let’s not forget Batman's strange remark about the villain: "He escaped from Arkham; I'll catch him tomorrow."
One can hope that Azrael's prophecy from the second part will become a major reference to the plot of the new Arkham. Many players have even come up with a title for the third part — "Ashes of Arkham" ("Руины Архэма"), which fits perfectly with the theory of the strange guest.
"Dark days are coming. The prophecy is coming true. You are the warrior who can close the gates of Hell. You are one of those who will save the people from what you cannot understand yourself. From the ruins of Arkham. Soon all of Gotham will burn in fire. And you, you will burn too."
And on that note, Azrael leaves Batman with a phrase like "we will meet again." There is no doubt that Bats' path will cross with the mysterious guest of this world once more.
During the game, some of you have probably received mysterious codes on your sequencer. Many know that by deciphering them, one can receive very interesting messages, apparently belonging to Dr. Crane, also known as Scarecrow. He has not finished his business with Batman, which is why he uses his favorite method: intimidation. Here are some examples of his deciphered messages:
- "I will return, Batman"
- "You will pay for what you did to me"
- "Fear will tear Gotham apart"
- "SCARECROWSCARECROWSCARECROW"
Scarecrow conducted his experiments in Arkham City. You can confirm this by visiting the abandoned ship in the docks and discovering a test subject, who, while dead, still twitches convulsively. By the way, the boat contains not only the villain's test subject but also cargo intended for Dr. Crane.
All the packages are paid for by Falcone's firm, so apparently, Scarecrow and the mob boss will be working together in the future.
So, what do we have so far: mini-Joker, Scarecrow's return, as well as "dark" days for Gotham that are about to arrive. Below, I will list a few more small facts that may also come into play in the third installment.
Facts:
- The bodies of Ra's al Ghul and Talia al Ghul have disappeared from the places of death.
- The Lazarus Pit is likely still functioning.
- The Riddler has escaped from captivity.
- Killer Croc hinted to Batman that they will meet again.
- Scarface has disappeared from the Penguin's museum.
That’s all for now. If you have any other theories regarding the plot of the third installment — feel free to share them in the comments!
