The Willpower expansion for Stellaris will be released on November 23
The next major expansion for the sci-fi strategy game Stellaris is called Willpower. It launches on PC on November 23 and explores how principles evolve into powerful ideological systems, expanding the original Stellaris experience with new mechanics, content, and ways to play. The Willpower expansion is included in the Season 10 Expansion Pass.
Ideas can conquer the boundless reaches of space more effectively than engines that propel starships to faster-than-light speeds. Your ideology can unite entire civilizations—or turn against you. If your authority falters, colonies may embrace radical ideas and rebel. The galaxy is ready to believe. What will you teach?
Key Features of Stellaris: Willpower
Ideologies: A principle backed by fanatical conviction can become an ideology without boundaries. Once you have shaped your ideology, spread it to neighboring systems and empires using starbases, hyper relays, and ideological beacons. The populations of other empires may embrace your values and create fanatical factions that undermine your enemies from within. But as you spread your tenets across the galaxy, you must remain true to your own values. Keep an eye on your Momentum, or factions within your empire may rise up and demand that you stay true to your values.
Galactic Halls: You can move your Galactic Hall, making it a visible embodiment of your ideology on the galactic map. In orbit around a colony, it boosts production and expands your ideological reach. On the borders of your empire, it spreads your ideas across contested territories. Each ethic has its own Galactic Hall design (yes, there’s a biological one, too!).
The new Willpower ambition: Who says the path to victory lies in conquering the galaxy? Discover a new path to victory: rally the galaxy to your cause and defeat all the Fallen Empires. Convince populations to embrace your ideology, bring other empires to your side, and maintain the Momentum that fuels your Willpower. As you spread your ideology across the galaxy, prove that your ideas are the ones that will save everyone from the threat of the Fallen Empires.
Ideological diplomacy: The power of ideology is felt in diplomacy, too. Empires can adopt your doctrine, and federation laws can establish an alliance’s official ideology. The clash of ideas reaches the Galactic Community, where you can denounce your rivals’ doctrines. Espionage operations let you shift ideological reach, sow doubt, and incite rebellion where your beliefs have already taken root. If covert pressure fails, a new Casus Belli lets you impose your ideology by force of arms. It’s still persuasion—just backed by battleships.
Three new origins:
Golden Generation: Train promising students at the Golden Academy, then recruit them as leaders of a new generation.
Lost Creators: A Machine Intelligence sets out among the stars in search of its creators, whose history is closely intertwined with one of the ancient precursor civilizations.
The Great Mosaic: Start the game with an additional civic and no pre-planned story. From the very beginning, you decide which path your empire will take.
And much more: new civics, events, ideological structures, a ship set, and an Inquisitor cityscape, as well as a new advisor.
The 4.6 Corona Borealis update, which fixes various bugs, will launch alongside the Willpower expansion.
