Europa Universalis V will be released on November 4
This fall, the cult series of grand strategies will be presented in a completely updated form. Europa Universalis V, the next installment of Paradox Interactive's flagship series, will be available on November 4, 2025.
Developed by Paradox Tinto in Barcelona, under the guidance of Paradox co-founder Johan Andersson, Europa Universalis V continues the series of deep and well-thought-out strategies, featuring significant differences from previous games. The new installment moves even further away from its 'tabletop' roots and utilizes population simulation models familiar from other Paradox games.
As a result, Europa Universalis V, one of the most complex and profound strategies on the market, will be able to tell even deeper and more realistic stories, based on a well-developed interpretation of the world of the late Middle Ages, a time when the era of castles and knights is preparing to give way to the age of explorers and the Renaissance.
Key features of Europa Universalis V:
A new system based on 'population': the population of a region is determined by population units that differ in culture, religion, and social status. In a prosperous society, the population will grow, while epidemics and wars can take a heavy toll.
The history of Europa Universalis begins in 1337. The French and the English are about to start the Hundred Years' War, the Yuan dynasty is flourishing in China, and the Black Death is just ahead. A 500-year history awaits you, written by your decisions.
The largest map ever created by Paradox uses a more accurate projection of the globe and smaller provinces. This means greater correspondence to the historical world presented in Europa Universalis V, and a wider variety of strategies available to the player.
A deep economic system involving numerous goods and resources in each province. Resources can be used in a production system to create key goods for your society or for trade in regional and global markets.
Expanded research: discover new technologies and ideas in the diplomatic, administrative, and military fields. Progress in each research area will allow the creation of new weapons, new industries, and new ways to organize your state.
Detailed governance system: assign tasks to your cabinet advisors to facilitate governance, enact new laws, consider national features, and keep your nation's factions in check by distributing privileges among different estates.
A new military system that recruits soldiers from the population. Raise militias and watch trade stall, or hire mercenaries to bolster your army. Gradually build a professional standing army and establish a battle order, fighting for territory and glory.
And much more: historical situations that immerse you in real-world events, a diversity of religions and types of governance, increased importance of characters and dynastic relationships, as well as dramatic events that change the world.
Europa Universalis V is already available for pre-order on Steam, for which the developers offer a collection of original soundtracks for Europa Universalis IV in MP3 format, including songs written for nearly every expansion and set throughout the game's lifetime. However, this bonus does not include compilations or compositions by Sabaton.
