Gamer Digest. Announcement of a new event

Friends, hello again!

We thought about how to organize ourselves so that you always had the motivation to write game-themed content, while we continuously had some creative and soulful activities in the background. Gamer Weekly partially addresses this issue, but only partially. So now you will also have Gamer Digest.

What is this barbarian Digest?

Gamer Digest (also just Digest) is a second follow-up format to Vikla's activity. It will be conducted in a similar style and under similar rules, with its main goal being to give a pat on the back to the good authors who have excelled throughout the month. However, don't think that this is just an advanced version of Gamer Weekly.

Digest is a monthly publication that summarizes the efforts of authors in their nominated categories. To become a winner or earn prizes, simply having the best post of the week may not be enough: there's a greater chance of winning for those who write consistently rather than occasionally.

How will the Digest be conducted and published?

As mentioned above, the Digest will be released once a month. For example, for January 2016 based on the activities and posts written... correctly, for January 2016. The current issue is a pilot announcement during which you can take a breather and test your skills. And with all the formalities, it will launch in January.

What nominations will be in the Digest?

At present, the Digest is launching with three basic nominations:

- news (game news, hardware, industry, cinema)

- reviews (reviews, previews, critiques of video games, hardware, peripherals, gadgets)

- workshop (walkthroughs, guides, secrets, Easter eggs, tips, upgrades)

The general requirement across all fronts is no copy-pasting. Rewrites, translations, and original posts are allowed. For rewrites and translations, please specify the original source; for original posts, don't forget to indicate any articles you relied on (if any).

How are the Digest winners chosen?

While in Vikla, the winner of the week was selected for the coolest post, in the Digest, total activity within your chosen nomination is crucial. In other words, if you've been a little star this month and written a lot of great content, say in news, then the world is your oyster. The criteria for selection by the editorial team are the same as in any other review/guide/news competition: post quality (topic disclosure, language proficiency, formatting), relevance, popularity (number of views, likes, and comments), and total number of contributions. Nothing supernatural; you've seen all this many times at other contests. :)

How many winners will there be and what will they receive?

There will be three winners in each nomination: a winner and two runners-up. They will receive experience points and gold in the following amounts:

• 1st place - 250 experience, VIP for a month, and 15 GG

• 2nd place - 150 experience, VIP for a month, and 10 GG

• 3rd place - 100 experience, VIP for a month, and 5 GG

As mentioned above, this issue is a pilot, and you have the chance to test your skills in the proposed nominations. Winners will be chosen based on activity from now until December 31, 2015, inclusive; a post about this will appear after the New Year's holidays. The prizes will be as follows:

• 1st place - 150 experience and 10 GG

• 2nd place - 80 experience and 5 GG

• 3rd place - 50 experience and 3 GG

Is experience and gold all the luxury available?

At the moment - yes. The promotion is fresh, and it hasn't gathered points for reputation yet, so for now, we will reward you with virtual goodies. Before you start complaining, I recommend checking this link to see how it all started. Back then, many good people lamented that no one cared about this promotion, and in general, to hell with such insignificant rewards. However, practice surprisingly showed the opposite, and at a certain stage, without Gamer Weekly, things did not move. Although, I remind you, initially the comments were full of Mordor, doom, and despair.

How can we increase the number of prizes?

We have also thought about this topic, and as with other contests, everything will boil down to one key indicator: your activity. The higher it is, the more chances for cool prizes, nice keys, fun peripherals, and other consoles. Everything that depends on us we will do; the rest, my friends, depends solely on you. :)

Can we add more nominations?

We've also thought about this. As mentioned above, news, reviews, and the workshop are basic nominations, and we are absolutely open to expanding them with something else. For instance, creativity or encyclopedic categories, why not? However, our current plans are to focus on the three main nominations and promote the event. Everything else will be added in the process if the Digest performs well at the start. If there is demand, it will happen; it's very simple. :)

What is Darth Vader doing here?

Just because he’s cool, and today is the premiere of "The Force Awakens." Plus, we are the Dark Side, which embodies evil, dreams of world domination, and loves kitties. So Lord Vader assists us and makes hints. And now forgive us, we have to go: the Death Star won’t build itself. ^^

For now, that's all. Good luck, friends!
