Results of the fan art competition for Diablo supported by GAMER.ru and Fucken.pro

Hello everyone, kitties! About three weeks ago, armed with branded devices and the magical formula "Catch, art, beautiful and fun!", a fan art contest for the Diablo series was launched. I promised I wouldn't keep you in suspense and would summarize the results as quickly as possible. The jury promptly expressed their preferences after reviewing the entries submitted to the contest (there were about 70 of them, by the way!), and I am ready to announce the verdict.

At stake - a headset, a mouse, a mousepad, +500 to self-esteem and charisma, provided by the online store **Fucken.pro**.

HOW WE CHOSE THE WINNERS

I remind you that, according to the conditions, you were supposed to draw thematic fan art for any game in the series. Ideally, something that takes your breath away. The jury for the contest consisted of four brave members: HiFly, Galadan, KhalNik and I carefully studied the riot of colors and themes.

When the acceptance of works came to an end, I realized that we couldn't go with the usual method of "Choose the 3 best fan arts": there were noticeably more than three contenders for the top three. Therefore, we proceeded as follows: each jury member selected their 7 best works, which were assigned points from 1 to 7. Based on the total points, we chose the winners. The winner finished with a solid lead, while the difference between the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places was just 1 point, as the works were so closely contested. I present the jury comments; I think you will be interested to know what and how. :)

1st Place (25 points) - littletart

Prize - a gaming headset **SteelSeries Diablo III Headset** and 100 experience on Gamer.ru.


Galadan: "I have always loved images drawn in such a semi-blurred style; here, I am also pleased with the theme of the battle and the monsters that you can believe in".

HiFly: "Impeccable drawing, done in speedpaint technique, dynamic and stylistically precise. An excellent example of concept art. Deserves the highest praise".

KhalNik: "Good speed paint; I would like to see a more detailed work".

Kitty Venom: "The best work of the contest. Perhaps it lacks some polish, but the impression is very powerful. The dynamics of the battle (one of the most important aspects of the game) is felt perfectly; great work with color and texture. For complete happiness, only more details are missing. I would be very happy to see an updated version of this work not in speedpaint but with details and other goodies. In any case, this is definitely the best art overall".

2nd Place (18 points) - Kroy

Prize - a gaming mouse **SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Mouse** and 80 experience on Gamer.ru.


HiFly: "A beautiful, stylish work. Great color solution, although somewhat different from the original graphics of [Diablo III](/games?search=Diablo III). The only comment concerns the hunter's pose. I would like to see it more... expressive, perhaps".

KhalNik: "Interesting work; the construction is fine, and the colors are pleasant. I would like to see more detailed development and the atmosphere typical to Diablo".

Kitty Venom: "Good drawing; I liked that it is clean, everything is clear, the character is in focus, and there is no blurriness. I like that the author is not afraid to work with bright colors and multiple light sources. An original choice of outfit; let's consider it an epic class set. However, in terms of color scheme, it strays quite far from the canons of Diablo, and the hunter's pose lacks aggression. The second stage was the most impressive in terms of dynamics and color; I think the pose is better, and the contrasting shadow looks more harmonious".

3rd Place (17 points) - Sidanai

Prize - a gaming mousepad **SteelSeries QcK Mousepad [Witch Doctor Edition]** and 50 experience on Gamer.ru.


Galadan: "A lonely angel, either calling to the heavens or warning them of something. Rejected but unbroken. Plus, it's excellently drawn; how can you resist?"

KhalNik: "The level of detail, meaning the coloring and attention to detail, is quite high. A dynamic pose is more complex to construct and convey than a static one. A good level of work; it's a pity the author didn’t manage to draw everything they had planned!"

Kitty Venom: "Great work! You can tell the author didn't finish it (the lack of detailed drawing of the canonical wings is striking, and the pose is more like 'You shall not pass!' but there’s no enemy), but this doesn’t prevent the drawing from being exceptionally atmospheric. I like the dark color scheme".

Kitty Venom: "This original work stands out a bit from all the others. Among its advantages, undeniably, is the concept and overall impression. As a fervent fan of the original Diablo, I cannot help but acknowledge this work for its atmospheric quality. In terms of execution skill, it falls short compared to several drawings; however, we are very fond of the author for the concept and the original approach to the task".

POSTSCRIPT

In fact, there should have been twice as many prizes: many works deserve attention and warm words. Honestly, we wavered for a long time, so a sincere thank you and respect to everyone who approached the contest with soul and spent time creating such cool fan arts! With your permission, I would like to include a selection of the best works in the next mix. :)
