How to Avoid Losing Money When Buying a Gaming Account: 6 Simple Rules
Buying a ready-made account saves months of leveling, but this is exactly where players are most often scammed. Here are the rules that help you avoid the most common schemes.
- Don’t pay a stranger directly. Transferring money to a card or wallet “before the details are handed over” is the main way buyers get scammed. Getting such money back is nearly impossible.
- Don’t move to messengers. If the seller asks you to “continue on Telegram” or another messenger, that’s a red flag: there’s no transaction history there and no one to handle a dispute.
- Use an escrow service. A transaction through escrow works like this: the buyer pays, the money is held, and the seller receives it only after the buyer checks the item and confirms receipt.
- Check the account immediately. Log in, change the password and email, verify that the characters and items match the description, and only then confirm the transaction.
- Check the seller’s history. Their rating, reviews, and number of completed transactions say more than any promises.
- Beware of prices that are too low. An account listed at one-third of the market price is a common bait, especially if the seller is pressuring you to hurry.
