Multiplayer Assault Fighters
The company "1C" has released some information about the multiplayer modes in the flight simulator titled "IL-2 Sturmovik: Winged Predators" for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. There are a total of four modes, each accommodating up to sixteen players simultaneously, both via the Internet and local network.
The first mode is "Battle." The structure is based on the classic scheme - "one against all." The user's goal is to destroy as many enemy aircraft as possible within the allotted time. Points are awarded for each enemy aircraft shot down, and ultimately, victory goes to the player who accumulates the most points.
The second mode is "Team Battle." The structure is almost the same as a simple "battle" but here the player is not alone but teamed up with comrades, facing off against another team. Victory is awarded to the team that destroys the most aircraft and, consequently, earns the most points.
The third mode is "Target Destruction." A team is assembled, and the arrangement of forces is made so that each side has equal numbers of bombers and fighters available. The former, the bombers, must destroy ground targets - the more, the better. The latter, that is, the fighters, are required to protect the former from enemy fighters and simultaneously their ground complexes from opposing bombers. Ultimately, victory goes to whoever scores more points or first destroys the ground structures of the opposing team.
And the last, fourth mode is "Airfield Capture." In this mode, a team is formed as in the third mode, and participants attempt to occupy and hold as many runways as possible. This is achieved by landing an aircraft on them. However, at the same time, the landed aircraft must be defended from destruction, while the opponent will do everything possible to prevent that.
It is worth noting that the flight simulator "IL-2 Sturmovik: Winged Predators," currently under development by various studios for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, and PSP consoles, will be available for open sale on September 4th of this year.
