Vicars: new ideas and well-forgotten old ones
After receiving the status of the best viceroy of 2011, I decided that I needed to continue to live up to that high status and seriously tackle the revamping of my blog: tidy up the categories, redistribute the posts, and all that.
Along the way, I encountered a number of problems that led to several ideas. Ultimately, I decided to gather all of this together.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to my victory
You broke everything!
The category sorting doesn't work. The cursor changes its appearance to a cross, but it doesn't let me drag the categories back and forth.
Renaming categories is formatted in a strange way. It's hard to explain, it's easier to show in the screenshot (see point #1). Wouldn't it be better to make the renaming functionality within the same dropdown menu for categories (see point #2)?
Why do I see "Shift Viceroy" in blogs where I can't shift the viceroy? If my memory serves me right, earlier when you didn't have enough experience, there was a different message there. I didn't dare to try shifting, but I suspect this is a bug and shifting may be possible even with less experience in the blog. In any case, I would like to see a message like "Level up and you will be able to shift the viceroy" if there's not enough experience.
Make me happy
Since a default category for screenshots has appeared (which is currently temporarily renamed to Gallery 2), I decided to move everything from the old Gallery category there. I thought about deleting it first, but then I thought it would stop the automatic addition to default categories. By the way, I'd like to know how this works? And will the auto-adding break after renaming?
In connection with the task at hand, another problem arose. There are no tools for bulk operations with posts. That is, you can't move a whole bunch of posts from one category to another at once. I have to drag them one by one. There are a lot of posts - it's long and tedious. Please implement bulk moving of posts between categories.
By the way, when will they implement the ability to upload a game's cover so that it appears in the game's card? They promised to do it, but didn't specify the timelines. And since we're talking about the card, the fields "Developer", "Publisher", "In Russia" currently look blind. At least highlight them in bold.
I would like to allow viceroys to enter system requirements in the game card. It's an urgent issue, and it's not entirely right to hold them in a separate post.
Something like that :)
Double viceroyship
This question is undoubtedly controversial but relevant. Especially for viceroys whose games have received or are going to receive a sequel. The situation is such that you've been maintaining your favorite blog, grooming it, and practically polishing it. And then suddenly, a sequel looms on the horizon. What to do? Look for a successor and capture the blog of the next part? And hope that the successor will treat your blog as tenderly as you did, not leaving it to its fate? Or stay in your blog and watch as another viceroy imposes his order in the blog of the sequel to your favorite game? It's good if he turns out to be worthy. One way or another, I suggest allowing seasoned viceroys (with at least six months of blog management) to capture an additional blog. This could even be done for the sake of good games. I wouldn't mind such an opportunity.
I think the hint is clear
Not mine
Just to add to this post, I'm including not my ideas related to viceroys and blogs. I share them, but I don't claim authorship:
- Viceroys (and users) want to see who is watching the game and who has marked it as a favorite. (This is probably useful for viceroys)
- Viceroys want the ability to upvote OTHER posts in THEIR blog. (a very useful feature in my opinion)
- Viceroys want to include and exclude both targeted and non-targeted posts that are deserving of life in their blog. (perhaps include from the section [about everything](/games?search=обо всем)?)
- Viceroys who have been managing for more than a year want a veteran blog status/badge. (benefits? etc?)
- Viceroys would like to have a double plus system in THEIR blogs. (in my opinion, this is quite justified)
- Viceroys want to edit the tags cloud for their blogs or at least separate their blog tags from the general GRush tags. (a tag like diablo looks strange in a WoW blog and vice versa)
- Viceroys want to see a link/ad to their blog in their comments. (to attract readers to themselves at the very least)
*That's how it is. Awaiting opinions, comments, and Kotovsky's :)
