• The scale of the game is simply astonishing. It will push the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to their limits. Yes, the main and only city is Los Santos. But it is at least four times larger than Liberty City from GTA IV. It is surrounded by vast countryside, and a huge number of beaches are scattered along the coastline. It takes the main character about 15 minutes to get from the city center to the desert. The rural scenes are just magnificent. Farms, small villages, grazing cattle, various factories, and plants. The forests, since Red Dead Redemption, have become even more beautiful. You can find people in tents, youth drinking and dancing around a fire, cyclists riding through mud, fording streams, and jumping over logs. The water, trees, and plants look very realistic.
• The shooting mechanics have been significantly improved. There are animations for shooting in water, climbing, rolling, etc., for greater realism. The weapon reloading animations also look cool.
• There are many different ledges to grab onto and climb.
• There are animals in the game, from dogs to cattle. It is currently unknown if they can be killed.
• You can pilot aircraft and crash into buildings if you wish.
• Rockstar has added many, many interior spaces to explore: a shopping mall, a police station, a huge hospital, a college, and even a massive sewer beneath the city. One of the missions in the sewer makes it clear how interesting and spectacular they are (just like in The Ballad of Gay Tony).
• The city is simply bustling with life. People are shopping, running from cops, washing cars, fixing fences, etc.
• Vehicles can be upgraded/repaired. They also use gasoline, so you'll need to fill up the tank periodically.
• No more dating. The main character has a mobile phone but will only use it for missions.
• In addition to standard weapons, the game includes a flamethrower, mines, and claymores. You can pick up some items from the streets and use them as weapons. There are also museums where you can steal ancient axes and swords.
• You can ignite gasoline that spills from cars. The car will obviously explode.
• Mini-games like darts and bowling will no longer be present. But you will be able to play basketball, pull trains, organize arm wrestling, engage in water races, parachute jumps, and ski sports.
• Character customization will return from San Andreas. You can dress differently, gain weight, but you cannot change race, age, or height.
• There will be no children!
• You can take hostages and use them as "shields".
• The police have become much smarter. If you want to kill someone, knowing that cops are nearby, it's better not to take the risk. Cops use tear gas, dogs, and ram doors if they know you are hiding inside.
• You can enter a room and lock the door from the inside, either as a lock or by placing an object against it.
• The weather will change: torrential rains, sun, heat. And even earthquakes!
