Pyramidhead. The Making Of.

Hello, dear blog readers! At the recent Gamer Live, my sweetheart Tensai and I decided to take on the responsibility of crafting a Pyramid Head costume. I wanted to share a photo story of its creation.

There are many videos on the internet about how to make a costume of this charismatic guy. So many, in fact, that using them is practically pointless; you just need to understand one thing: it's important for the pyramid to be large. The material for it was a sofa box from IKEA (this is some advertising: IKEA - the best friend of a cosplayer!).

For normal, dexterous people, the pyramid usually consists of four pieces, as shown in the photo above. However, we had a slight mishap, but we'll get to that in a couple of frames.

Actually, the mishap was that all these pieces of the sofa box weren't particularly keen on holding their shape as a pyramid. Some people solve this problem by cutting over 9000 small triangles to secure the sides at an angle. Others glue everything onto a construction helmet. But we couldn't find a helmet :(

Instead, we found that a bowl lying around in the kitchen fits perfectly on the head!

After painting, the pyramid smelled on the balcony for three more days.

The windows, through which you can look around, were first covered with ordinary mosquito netting (there was no black one, so we had to paint a white one, which also smelled for three days), but that turned out to be insufficient, so then we turned to some nylon tights O_o And for the plates we glued on top, we are immensely grateful to the hardware stall at the market in Planernaya (there it is again, advertising in the post).

By the way, to attach the tubes to the helmet, we used caps from the "Shishkin Les" water. Once we started mentioning it, it would be a sin not to mention it right away, and then include it somewhere later in the post.

The skirt, or apron, was next on the list. As far as I know, this wardrobe detail of Pyramid was made of human skin, but you can’t find that in our fabric stores, instead (yet again, advertising) the "Fabrics" store on Avtozavodskaya, run by several charming Indians, helped us with a few meters of very suitable faux leather.

Some can call it a skirt, while others could even sew a dress %)))

Cutting all this into pieces, which were eventually sewn back together by the caring hands of Akane, was quite a joy. It was cut with great soul, but sewing some heartfelt cuts – we admit, we overdid it. Even more fun was to mess it all up.

The sword is made from extruded polystyrene. Simply put, from a couple of pieces of insulation. It's sold at (yes-yes-yes!) "Leroy Merlin."

Grandpa Freud would be incredibly pleased with us for this sword!

By the way, it also stank for a long time after painting...

Going out in public:

We just need to find a decent photographer to do a photo shoot in character to consider the cosplay complete. The post will be further supplemented with photos. To those who managed to read it all, thank you very much for your attention! :3 We hope it turned out well :)
