Heavens Blog Guide [Updated]
The blog rules have been updated. I urge everyone to familiarize themselves with them!
Rules of Our Blog
Only posts that describe various aspects of the game "Heavens" in one way or another may be present in the blog.
The use of modified artworks from the game world "Heavens" is strictly prohibited! All posts that use such materials will be deleted without prior warning.
Poorly formatted posts will be sent to the trash. Remember, if a topic has already been discussed in the blog, and a rewrite with similar content is posted, it will automatically receive the status of "repost".
It is strongly recommended that before writing an authorial post (not copy-paste), check the uniqueness of your text. To avoid obtaining the status of "Repost", I suggest you review the material below.[cut]
So,
- copy-paste (repost) that has reached "silver" status gives the user only 10XP (three times less than an authorial post - 30XP);
- copy-paste cannot receive a status higher than "silver" ("golden", which gives 60XP per post, or "diamond", which gives 150XP);
- copy-paste does not appear on the main page of Gamer.ru.
Definitions
An authorial post is one that consists of 80% unique text. The remaining 20% can be quotes of other people's thoughts - this happens all the time, it is normal.
A text translation is considered an authorial work.
A rewrite (i.e., text rewritten in one's own words) is equated to an authorial post if an 80% uniqueness is achieved.
The quality of the translation or rewrite is not taken into account in determining authorship. You should vote for quality with your likes and (sarcastic) comments. The editorial team does not interfere in this process (almost).
Copy-paste is considered a post with low uniqueness (less than 80%). Obligatory copy-paste includes texts copied from other websites; collections of screenshots, artworks, and videos (exceptions: author's photographs and artworks; videos from video hosting platforms, marked as created specifically for gamer.ru).
Even if you are the author of the text but posted it somewhere first and only then on gamer.ru, that text will be recognized as copy-paste. A post posted first on gamer.ru and only a day later on your personal resource will not be considered copy-paste, as in this case gamer.ru will be the primary source.
To check uniqueness, we use Advego Plagiatus, which extracts all borrowed fragments from the main text and gives a uniqueness score. The program is free, feel free to use it to monitor the uniqueness of your texts.
Just in case, I clarify: we handle the sorting of posts manually. In any process where the human factor is present, mistakes are inevitable. I am ready to acknowledge these mistakes; there are known cases where a copy-paste that became "diamond" lost its status, and the author lost experience. There are also known cases where a post mistakenly identified as copy-paste was restored to authorial status.
There may be a situation where an authorial post from gamer.ru is copied to another resource. This situation is easily resolved by comparing publication dates: where the date is earlier, there is the original. Since the publication date can be changed, we make a control shot by searching through Google.
What to do if your post is marked as copy-paste?
Run it through Advego Plagiatus. If the uniqueness is above 80%, it is worth informing the moderator @RooGa, and he will rectify the situation. If it is less - do not bother the administration, this will not help.
Rewrite the post - that is, narrate its content in your own words while preserving the meaning. This will help cleanse your karma and improve your statistics :)
Collections of screenshots and videos: for the post to be considered unique, provide it with an original accompanying text of 500 characters. This can be captions for screenshots, annotations to videos, etc. You are the authors; come up with something on the topic :)
How to best format posts?
Try not to use prefixes in the titles of texts. For example, "[translation] How I Met Your Mother" or "Authorial Post! Review of the Game 'Psycho Circus'. First the essence, then the 'technical stuff'.
Links to sources, links to related posts, and bows to other users are better published at the end of the post.
Do not build pyramids of Hops from tables, dividers, and headers; know the measure. Pay special attention to tables, as one unclosed tag can ruin not only the post but also the comments to it.
Pay careful attention to the preview of the post - by it, the reader will understand what awaits them inside. Reminder: there is a cut tag that cuts the preview at the place you need.
How to get the "Recommended by the Editorial Team" medal from Kotovsky?
Write a good, competent guide, manual, or walkthrough on a relatively recent game, in a blog where similar guides are not observed.
Properly format it (see above).
Check it for mistakes at least a couple of times (and not embarrass yourself with mixed up "tся"/"-ться").
Send a request for the medal in a personal message to @Kotovsky. If he likes the result - he will evaluate it and reward it.
What else can be done to shine on the main page?
Write authorial news about games in a news format (not blog format, but in a standard media format). All these news will make it into our RSS "Important News", will hang on the main page in a special section (see in the left column) and please us. To make them appear in the "Important" section, it also needs to be addressed to @Kotovsky.
