As you know, just recently, specifically from July 13 to 15, the largest event in the world dedicated to all aspects of modern mass culture took place in San Diego (California) — San Diego Comic-Con International. As the name suggests, the main focus of the event is comics, but now the convention also showcases film premieres, TV shows, video games, anime, and much more. The festival was first held way back in 1970, and it was more of a gathering of passionate comic book fans who managed to find the funds to organize such an event. Now, Comic-Con attracts around 130,000 participants every year.
