Stygian: Outer Gods Leaves Early Access
Publisher Fulqrum Publishing and developer Misterial Games have released Stygian: Outer Gods out of Early Access — a survival horror game with RPG elements, inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft.
Set in the universe of Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, the game takes place before the Black Day, which transported Arkham to another dimension. Players step into the shoes of Jack Harrison, who sets out to find his missing father. His trail leads to Kingsport, once a thriving port city, now fallen into ruin and shrouded in impenetrable fog. After a shipwreck, Jack finds himself in this godforsaken place, where something far more sinister than an abandoned city lurks beneath the remnants of its former grandeur.
Welcome to Kingsport... if you can keep your sanity
Every corner of Kingsport bears traces of a past best left undisturbed. Crumbling streets, a secluded family estate, abandoned mines, forests thick with fog, and worlds beyond ordinary reality form a sinister landscape where every new discovery raises more questions than it answers.
To survive, you’ll have to make difficult choices and carefully manage your limited resources. Players will need to scavenge supplies, craft essential tools and remedies, and prepare for threats that can undermine not only their physical health but also their mental well-being. Psychological disorders can affect the gameplay experience, while character progression lets you improve your abilities and choose your own approach to overcoming danger.
The truth comes at a price
In Stygian: Outer Gods, exploration and uncovering mysteries are closely intertwined with combat and character progression. Your choices can have far-reaching consequences, shaping the hero’s path and leading to different outcomes. The most curious may uncover hidden secrets, but every new piece of knowledge threatens to bring them closer to forces beyond the comprehension of the human mind.
The full version concludes the story and expands the gameplay experience with content added during Early Access. Players can look forward to a new chapter, additional puzzles, artifacts and weapons, new enemies, and a showdown with a fearsome boss.
The cosmos does not care whether you survive
Combining survival amid scarce resources, RPG mechanics, unsettling exploration, and Lovecraftian horror, Stygian: Outer Gods immerses players in a universe that has no regard for humanity’s fate. Here, the pursuit of knowledge can come at a terrible price, and keeping your sanity can be just as difficult as surviving the nightmares that lie ahead.
Alongside the full game, players can purchase three additional products that offer a deeper dive into its universe. The Official Digital Artbook, nearly 200 pages long, showcases the game’s artistic vision of a Lovecraftian world. The The Heretic’s Arsenal Pack adds a mysterious artifact and two deadly melee weapons to your arsenal.
