Red Square added to 'World of Tanks'
The developers of the Lesta Games group have recreated Red Square in the game '[World of Tanks](/games?search=World of Tanks)' as it should look five minutes before the Victory Parade begins. The festive hangar, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory, symbolizes the memory of the heroic deeds of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. The hangar will be available to all players starting April 30.
The hangar is the game's homepage, where players' tanks are placed. The developers recreated the atmosphere of May 9 during the years 1945-1960. Red Square has been reproduced with high accuracy—players will see the buildings of GUM, the Mausoleum, and the Spasskaya Tower. The main viewpoint is located at the center of the square, where military vehicles are frozen in anticipation of the parade. The tanks are positioned in the center of Red Square, between the Mausoleum and GUM, with their angle emphasizing the solemnity of the moment. The combat vehicles on pedestals are dedicated to the tanks and crews that endured through the battles of the Great Patriotic War and embody the Victory of the Soviet people.
"The Great Victory was won through the unparalleled courage and self-sacrifice of the Soviet people, who paid a huge price for it — more than 26 million human lives. On this bright holiday, when we celebrate the anniversary of the 80th Victory Day, the Lesta Games group and '[World of Tanks](/games?search=World of Tanks)' want to honor the memory of all those heroes whose lives were given for the freedom of our Motherland. We remember those who deserved to march in the parade on Red Square but, alas, did not live to see this day. Our new hangar has become a symbol of the feat of the entire people who liberated the world from the Nazi threat. We are proud to have the opportunity to touch this great history together with millions of our players," said Boris Sinitsky, Chief Operating Officer of 'World of Tanks'.
The developers also prepared special musical accompaniment for the hangar, enhancing the solemn atmosphere. All the equipment and soldiers are arranged in strict accordance with historical sources. The hangar features four branches of the military: infantry, tankers, pilots, and sailors. Their uniforms and weapons, as well as other elements of the square, have been meticulously designed with the participation of historians.
On the screens installed in Red Square and on the Historical Museum building, players will see a majestic image of the sculpture "Motherland Calls!" Previously, the developers of 'World of Tanks' had already created a hangar on Mamaev Kurgan, reconstructed the tank parade on May 9, and also recorded the song "Sacred War" with the participation of a veterans' choir and the voice of the "Immortal Regiment," Mikhail Gavrilov.
