Alien: Isolation is a multi-platform survival horror video game developed by the British studio The Creative Assembly and published by SEGA. The publisher in Russia is "SoftClub". The game was released in October 2014 for seventh and eighth generation consoles, as well as on PC.
The gaming community has long been accustomed to the fact that horror games in the industry tend to follow the same patterns. Consumers are offered to fear ghosts, demons, undead, and various mystical creatures. However, experience shows that all these "characters" in survival horror projects have bored people just as much as elves and orcs in various MMORPGs. Yet the desire to be scared remains strong. This is where games like Alien: Isolation come to the rescue, breaking the usual boundaries of horror and offering completely new experiences.
As can be understood from the title, the events of Alien: Isolation unfold in the universe of the famous "Aliens", only this time the main character is not Ellen Ripley, but her daughter Amanda. Fifteen years have passed since the end of the film "Alien", and Amanda, following in her mother's footsteps, works for "Weyland-Yutani" as a technician. Despite the well-known events and the passage of time, the heroine is still trying to learn about Ellen’s fate. This explains why she does not leave the space sector where the ship "Nostromo" was last reported. And her patience is eventually rewarded – she is contacted by representatives of her employer, hinting that she will find answers to her pressing questions on the "Sevastopol" station. This marks the beginning of Amanda's perilous adventure.
The gameplay of Alien: Isolation consists of moving through interconnected locations, exploring the territory, and searching for items that may assist in progressing through the game and/or defending against xenomorphs. It should be noted that Alien: Isolation is in no way a shooter-action game. Amanda cannot kill the creatures she encounters, and she must rely on her cunning and ability to hide. To avoid potential death, she has to use various ingenious devices and auxiliary equipment. But Amanda's main lifeline is her motion detector (just like in the movie). With its help, the heroine can timely determine from where the threat is coming and make the right decision. Xenomorphs rarely appear in groups, and most of the time, there is only one enemy in front of her. But even one creature presents so many problems that the player can lose all their nerves without the ability to recover.
