First, we should talk about the personality that the game from High Moon Studios is dedicated to. Deadpool is one of the characters in the Marvel universe. Interestingly, he is not a hero, or rather, he is a hero, but with an "anti" prefix. Yes, Deadpool (formerly Wade Wilson) is, to be frank, a bad guy and, in a way, a complete psycho, who has several personalities in his mind. He became this way after horrific experiments were conducted on him by the psycho-scientists Killbrew and Ajax after he was expelled from the "Weapon X" program and sent to the so-called Hospice – a place where all mutants with superpowers "served time." Nevertheless, Deadpool managed to escape, although he turned into a madman, or simply put, a schizophrenic: funny and amusing, yet quite brutal. However, it must be noted that Deadpool is not what one would call a supervillain. Rather, he is a petty nuisance, a little villain, a mischievous joker, and a real clown. Moreover, he has principles, which ensure that he never crosses the line between an average antagonist and a true monster. To put it simply, he will never raise a hand against peaceful people. Intentionally, at least.
Like every self-respecting superhero, Deadpool has a unique trait – he can regenerate as well as the famous and well-known Wolverine, and in some instances, even better. Do you think that losing a head is a death sentence, final and irreversible? In 99% of cases, it is, but not for Deadpool – he regenerates, licks his wounds, and rushes back into battle – singing and dancing. By the way, speaking of battles – in Deadpool they are divided into two equally significant components: close and long-range combat. In the former case, Deadpool slashes and bludgeons his enemies with various punishing weapons in the style of Batman: Arkham Asylum, while in the latter – he shoots from various guns (including dual-wielding), of which there are quite a few in Deadpool.
Deadpool is a game filled with humor, funny situations, and various gags that sometimes bring a smile. The only "but" is that the humor in the game is mostly "black," and the jokes often venture into the lowbrow territory. Some people like this, while others don’t. Essentially, the same can be said about the frequent breaking of the so-called "fourth wall" – this is when a film character addresses the audience directly, thus breaking the boundaries between the real and fictional worlds. Deadpool in the namesake game does this quite often, seemingly aware that he is a video game character: he cracks jokes, eggs the gamer on, constantly comments on their actions, and provides various kinds of advice. On one hand, this creates a sense of presence, while on the other – it injects a fair amount of chaos into the gameplay.
