Description: "Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey" is an episodic computer game in the quest genre, serving as a direct continuation of the game "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey" and partially touching upon the events of "The Longest Journey." "Dreamfall Chapters" is a three-dimensional game focusing on character interaction, exploration of the game world, and solving puzzles. The first of five episodes of the game was released on October 21, 2014, with the last episode released on June 17, 2016.
The game's action unfolds in two parallel worlds—Stark, a dystopian future Earth, and Arcadia, its magical twin world. The plot of "Chapters" continues the story started in "Dreamfall," where the main character, Zoe Castillo, uncovered a criminal conspiracy aimed at stealing the dreams of the inhabitants of both worlds and seizing power over them, but she was betrayed and left in a coma at the end of the previous installment. In "Chapters," she must rediscover her purpose in life, and the creators describe the main theme of the game as "chapters/periods of life."
The game was developed by the independent Norwegian studio "Red Thread Games" under license from "Funcom" (the rights holder for the series) under the leadership of the creator of both previous installments, Ragnar Tørnquist. Its development was funded by fans of the series, who donated over one and a half million dollars through Kickstarter, as well as the Norwegian Film Institute.
