Point Blank is a multiplayer shooter video game developed by Zepetto and released by NCsoft (the creators of projects such as Aion and Lineage 2) in the fall of 2008. In Russia, Point Blank appeared a little over a year later – in December 2009. The license for the game and distribution rights are held by the company "Innova". Model: Free-to-play.
In Point Blank, almost everything is tied to tactics, which is reminiscent of legendary projects like Counter-Strike. However, Point Blank has more possibilities – it's not just a multiplayer shooter, but a genuine MMOFPS with all the consequences that come with it. The game boasts a variety of modes, special missions, an interesting character development system, and many other features.
As mentioned, Point Blank offers a lot of modes, including more or less standard competitions among gamers ("Team Match", "Survival", "Destruction", "Demolition", etc.), as well as battles against bots ("Challenge") in cooperative or single-player game modes. There are also unique modes, such as fights between groups of regular fighters and dinosaurs ("Escape"). The giant reptiles need to eat all the little humans on the map, while the humans must run to the evacuation point while shooting at the reanimated prehistoric creatures. Naturally, Point Blank features a wide selection of maps, including those for the "dinosaur" mode.
However, most battles take place between the police and the rebels. There is no strict affiliation to a faction – players can play for either side. Another interesting aspect is that Point Blank has a clan system, which appeared not immediately (only in December 2009), but became very popular among gamers.
By participating in duels, players can earn experience points, gain new ranks, experiment with weapons and equipment, and also tinker with skills. If everything gets a bit tiresome after a while, players can engage in specialized "Missions", where they need to complete specific tasks with a particular type of weapon. "Missions" consist of a chain of different maps totaling ten in number, and successful completion awards a special reward.
Ranks in Point Blank are analogous to levels – by earning experience, players gradually obtain new ranks and climb the "career ladder," acquiring new skills along the way. By the way, there are quite a number of skills in Point Blank, but only a limited number can be utilized in combat. All skills are divided into the penetration tree (pistols, submachine guns, melee weapons) and sniper and assault branches.
