"Tanks Online" is a multiplayer browser game in the tank simulator genre, although the simulation aspect is virtually absent in "Tanks Online." Simply put, the project from the Perm studio AlternativaPlatform is a typical arcade online shooter with fun tank races.
The MMO "Tanks Online" was developed in 2009 using the Alternativa3D engine, which is based on Adobe Flash. For its unique technology, the game even received the "Best Technology" award at the 2009 Game Developers Conference. "Tanks Online" is fully 3D, and its graphics are generally well-regarded, even though at the very beginning of its journey, the project did not look very presentable. However, the creators of "Tanks Online" did not rest on their laurels, releasing new updates each time aimed at improving the graphics. Version 2.0 came with a whole pile of add-ons and enhancements, but it turned out to be not very successful. Nevertheless, the AlternativaPlatform studio managed to solve the emerging issues, releasing version 1.100.00. It can be said that from that moment on, "Tanks Online" began its second life.
So, what can this game boast of, and how can it attract a potential audience? First and foremost, it should be noted that "Tanks Online" is an extremely easy-to-understand MMO with intuitive controls and an accessible interface. To start playing, all you need to do is go through a short registration process: no need to download gigabytes of files to your hard drive. In fact, you can jump into battle almost from the very first moments of the game.
"Tanks Online" is a PvP-oriented project, so players should spend most of their time in combat, except for those moments when they can take a break and enjoy the extremely entertaining activity of tank parkour. In battles, players earn experience points necessary for leveling up their ranks. The higher the rank, the more consumables, weapons, and armor can be utilized. However, you can't just equip everything at once - to obtain, for example, a powerful double-barreled cannon or a unique chassis, you'll have to part with a certain number of crystals. Crystals can be obtained directly in battle or after making a microtransaction. However, if you don't want to invest real money into the game, there’s the actual hunt for so-called golden boxes. These boxes are bonuses (along with health packs and various useful abilities) that drop from the sky via parachutes. If you reach them among the first, you can collect a considerable number of crystals.
In this MMO, you can find various game modes, including "Capture the Flag" and "Hold the Control Point." There are also standard "Deathmatches" and "Team Battles." While the variety isn’t extensive, it’s enough for "Tanks Online" fans, especially considering that they can set their own rules on maps they create. Plus, we shouldn't forget about the updates.
