"Tanki Online" is a multiplayer browser-based tank simulator, although there is practically no simulation to speak of in "Tanki Online." Put simply, the project from Perm-based studio AlternativaPlatform is a typical arcade online shooter with fun tank races.
The MMO "Tanki Online" was developed in 2009 using the Alternativa3D engine, which is itself based on Adobe Flash. The game even received the "Best Technology" award at the 2009 Game Developers Conference for its unique technology. "Tanki Online" is fully 3D, and its graphics are quite decent, although the project didn't look particularly polished at the very beginning. But the creators of "Tanki Online" didn't rest on their laurels, releasing new updates time and again, including ones focused on improving the graphics. Version 2.0, with its whole host of additions and improvements, didn't turn out too well, but AlternativaPlatform studio dealt with the problems that arose by releasing version 1.100.00. You could say that this is when "Tanki Online" began its second life.
So, what does this game have to offer, and how can it win over potential players? First of all, it's worth noting that "Tanki Online" is an extremely easy-to-learn MMO with intuitive controls and an accessible interface. To start playing, all you need to do is complete a short registration: there's no need to download gigabytes of files to your hard drive. In fact, you can jump into battle almost as soon as you start the game.
"Tanki Online" is a PvP-oriented project, so players spend most of their time in battle, except for those moments when they can take a break and enjoy the delights of an extremely amusing activity: tank parkour. In battle, players earn experience points, which they need to increase their rank. The higher the rank, the more consumables, weapons, and armor they can use. But you can't install everything at once: to get, for example, a powerful double-barreled cannon or a hull with unique attributes, you'll have to part with a certain number of crystals. Crystals can be earned directly in battle or obtained after making a microtransaction. But if you don't want to spend real money on the game, you can set off on a real hunt for so-called gold boxes. These boxes are bonuses (along with medkits and all sorts of useful abilities) that fall from the sky by parachute. If you're among the first to reach one, you can get a hefty sum of crystals.
You can find several game modes in this MMO, including, for example, "Capture the Flag" and "Control Point." There are also standard "Deathmatches" and "Team Battles." There's certainly no abundance of variety, but that's enough for "Tanki Online" fans, especially since they can set their own rules on maps they create. And don't forget about the updates, either.
