World of Tanks Blitz is a game for mobile platforms developed by Wargaming. The mobile version of WoT was initially released in Scandinavia on May 5, 2014, and a global launch followed a month and a half later, on June 26.
World of Tanks Blitz largely mirrors the standard "Tanchiki" game. Players have a garage where they store, upgrade, and purchase combat vehicles. There is a progression mechanic in place. As in the original, players can tinker with modules and consumables. Regarding battles, players continue to earn experience/free experience/silver. Monetization is, of course, present - by spending a certain amount of real currency, one can buy so-called "gold" or a premium account. Yet, despite the external and internal similarities, World of Tanks Blitz differs in some ways from its "older brother".
The developers of World of Tanks Blitz, aiming to cater to the mobile audience, opted to simplify some game elements. For instance, the map sizes were significantly reduced, and the duration of a single session was cut down several times. Similarly, with tanks – while World of Tanks features battles in a 15 vs. 15 format, Blitz battles are fought in a 7 vs. 7 format. This allowed for greater dynamics; matches do not stretch to 20 minutes like in the original project, but rather conclude within 5-6 minutes. It's perfect for those who value their time.
As the game's creators stated, the most challenging task when transferring the project to mobile devices was developing adequate controls. Throughout the process, it was adjusted multiple times to bring it to perfection. As a result, a system was implemented that was best suited for such a hardcore game as World of Tanks Blitz.
Playing World of Tanks Blitz on smartphones and tablets allows for gaming on the go, anywhere without Wi-Fi – "Tanchiki" only requires 3G/4G connectivity. However, not every device is capable of running Blitz. For the iOS platform, one needs to have at least a 2nd generation tablet (iPad 2), and for iPhone, a device no older than version 4S is required.
