Leonardo Da Vinci and his involvement in the game.
Yesterday I was at the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum. What prompted me to do this was my curiosity and the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed 2. I wanted to create a detailed media report, but taking pictures there in any form is prohibited. I will have to rely on my memory.
Many of you know that in the second part of Assassin's Creed, the hero will have many helpers. One of them, and probably the most useful :) will be Leonardo Da Vinci. You've probably heard a lot about him, but I think it's still not enough. Today, we will analyze a couple of the genius's inventions, specifically those that interest us (me) the most. Especially those that may appear in the game. I know many of you on this site would like to read a detailed review of the sewing machines invented by Leonardo, but there won't be any of that here, whether you like it or not, that's how the author decided.
There will be two types of images here. From Leonardo's diaries and manuscripts, and photographs of the models displayed in museums.
Parachute.
In one of his diaries, Leonardo wrote something like: "A person can land from any height without consequences using a dense fabric measuring 7x7 meters."
Could it be in the game: 80% (I would even rate it higher, but Altair wasn't shy about jumping from great heights either)
Flying Machine.
A very interesting concept.
Could it be in the game: 100% (I think everyone has seen it already)
Flying Apparatus.
One of the first models of a helicopter. In fact, the history of helicopters goes back to this.
Wheeled Lock.
A wheeled lock for a pistol, replaced the matchlocks. You can see how it works on Wikipedia.
By the way, it was the only invention of his that received recognition during his lifetime.
Could it be in the game: 99% (everyone has seen how Ezio shot the dagger from his sleeve; I think that's perfect)
Crossbow.
Yes, of course, it was invented before him. Leonardo simply invented a giant crossbow.
Could it be in the game: 0% (if there is anything, it will be a catapult)
Rapid-Fire Weapon.
The models in the museum shocked me a lot. In the image, you can see a 9-barrel gun-cannon. A magnificent piece. The second model is similar but has three rows of barrels for quick reloading. One fires while the others reload.
Could it be in the game: 20% (not that type of game)
Automobile.
The initial model of a car.
Could it be in the game: 20%
Robot.
From Wikipedia:
"A frame of the robot was dressed in German-Italian knightly armor, programmed to imitate human movements (getting up and sitting down, moving arms and neck) and had anatomically correct jaw structure. The technology was partially based on Leonardo's research in anatomy, particularly the Vitruvian Man."
Could it be in the game: 50% (why not?)
Searchlight.
A simple searchlight.
Could it be in the game: 60% (why not?)
Leonardo's Tank.
A prototype of a real tank. This project was unfeasible in the 15th century due to the impossibility of muscly moving such a large machine.
Could it be in the game: 20%.
Also, there will likely be some inventions of a lighter nature in the game. For example, using mirrors or gunpowder.
In general, that's about it.
