Meet the Ghost
So, we've already been introduced to Makarov, we've dissected the plot's beginning... I think after that post, we can take a break from analyzing the storyline and talk about the character who has somehow turned out to be the most memorable for the gaming community. Yes, I am talking about Ghost. Although that's evident from the title =)
Who is who?
or a few words about the character
When players learned that one of the characters would be voiced by Craig Fairbrass, they were suddenly seized by vague doubts. After all, he was the voice of Gaz from Call of Duty 4.
Knowing that Infinity Ward tends to be rather frivolous about injuries, fatal wounds, and deaths, the afterlife, logical conclusions were made - in the next installment, we would meet another classic hero. They were mistaken.
So, let's remove the masks. Ghost's real name is Simon Riley, rank - Sergeant. His call sign "Ghost" translates as "Phantom".
His position is deputy commander of the "Task Force 141" (MacTavish's team). Specialization: stealth. Additional specialization: marksman.
Why does he wear a mask? Quoting the first issue of the comic about Ghost, page two: "I bet you're wondering why I put this skull on my face. It's a tribute to my old friend. He's dead now, but he wasn't the worst bastard on this planet."
Have you looked at the image? Looked closely? Are you sure? Nothing unusual? Alright, what if I show it like this:
Okay, not everyone has the means to arrive at this on their own - I didn't get it right away either =) This is also Ghost. In fact, the first issue never states anywhere that Ghost and Simon Riley are the same person. However, it was confirmed thanks to a description of the sequel that was posted not so long ago.
Well, now we also know what Ghost looks like. And we even know that he is British and previously served in the SAS, just like the heroes from Call of Duty 4.
As for everything else, we will learn that quite soon.
Interesting Facts
If you look closely, you can see that the skull is hand-drawn directly on the balaclava. It is quite possible that Ghost himself painted it.
Interestingly, the similarities with Gaz don't end with his voice - Ghost will die **in practically the same manner** as Gaz.
We will hear quite a lot from Ghost in Special Ops - he is the special operations coordinator.
Ghost has several balaclavas, but on all of them, the skull has been redrawn with almost surgical precision.
It is possible that the first set of additional maps will be somehow related to Ghost.
Awaiting the Past
Let's quickly remember - what can we expect from Ghost?
Naturally, we are looking forward to 6 issues of the comic:
Additional maps are also not out of the question
And of course, the creations of creative fans of the game =)

Ghost is an interesting personality. He is as enigmatic as a person and inexplicable as a gaming phenomenon - suddenly becoming one of the most central characters of the game, even though he is not particularly remarkable in the game itself. However, the mystery of his character and his presence in probably the most dramatic episode of the whole game did their job.
We will hear more about him soon.
