Destiny is a video game with MMO elements that combines the genres Action/FPS/RPG, developed by the American studio Bungie and released by Activision on September 9, 2014. The publisher in Russia is "Novy Disk." The game's release took place on old-generation (PS3 and Xbox 360) and new-generation (PS4 and Xbox One) consoles. The project's budget is $500 million, making the game from Bungie and Activision the most expensive media product in the gaming industry (as of 2014).
The game's events unfold in the 28th century, when humanity was almost wiped out by alien hordes that invaded the Solar System. Under the control of humans and their alien allies, only one megacity remained, and that was preserved only thanks to the Traveler. An unknown intelligent life form, resembling a huge white sphere the size of an asteroid, stood guard over the city, sheltering its inhabitants. In the end, after suffering terrible damage, the Traveler fell into a state of hibernation while remaining suspended above the city. But the locals believe that the sphere, which once gifted humanity with extraterrestrial technology and saved them from complete extermination on "the day X," will eventually heal from its wounds, come to itself, and drive the aliens away. For now, they have to cope on their own. And they do this quite successfully because they are not just soldiers, no. They are Guardians!
In Destiny, there is a storyline campaign, but it is not the main focus of the game. Firstly, there are modes that provide single-player or cooperative gameplay. There are free variations that allow unrestricted travel through locations on Earth, the Moon, Mars, Venus, and so on. During the process, players can perform various missions, engage in annihilating aliens, and participate in random events. There are also modes like "dungeons," where players either fend off waves of enemies or move from point "A" to point "B," culminating in a boss fight. Secondly, in Destiny, you can find several PvP modes, ranging from "Capture the Flag" to "Skirmish."
During the missions and PvP modes, players learn new skills corresponding to their class and level up. Traditional leveling, based on earning experience and increasing level, only applies up to level 20. After that, players can only increase their level by collecting special armor sets that contain "light." Gear, like weapons, can either be purchased in stores or earned on the battlefield (in the form of loot and rewards for completing missions/battles).
