The game takes place in the fictional world of Yuralia. In Yuralia, there are seven human kingdoms: Nizos, Aratoya, Oriam, Fornax, Elitria, Katya, and Taberland. These kingdoms have formed a fragile alliance and built a citadel for a meeting place called Avalon.
Also in this world exists a civilization of nomad half-orcs called Sha'akhuli. Their faith values land and nature above all, so any "violence against the earth," including farming and construction, is considered a crime. After discovering the kingdoms, the Sha'akhuli gathered a vast horde and declared war.
After the horde's attack, many refugees settled in Avalon. All the kingdoms sent troops to defend Avalon from the invasion. For the peoples of the kingdoms, the mighty walls of Avalon are a symbol of hope against the Sha'akhuli. The Sha'akhuli and their leader Mitras decided to lay siege to Avalon, as the citadel cannot be taken by force.
The game begins with the diary of the main character, which briefly outlines the events leading up to the start of the game: the siege has been ongoing for several years. His brother Corvus serves in Avalon’s army. After the death of their father, the hero believes he must personally inform his brother. He becomes a member of the crew of a cargo ship sailing from Elitria to Avalon. The fleet falls into an ambush by the Sha'akhuli, who manage to sink all ships except the one the player is on. The heavily damaged ship makes it to Avalon, but will not sail back. Therefore, the hero decides to stay in Avalon, tell Corvus about their father's death, and help defend the city. From this moment, the player gains control of the character and begins conversing with Corvus.
