Wikipedia and more about GAMER.RU
Last night, I decided to see what had been written about us on Wikipedia. The resource's definition was quite vivid, concise, and somewhat even accurate — "Create a page".
This is quite sad. I went to check Lurko-morye — FAIL! It's also empty there. At least in one aspect, Wikipedia is in solidarity with Lurko-morye — the articles duplicate each other. That is, they simply do not exist.
The further I dug, the more my consciousness fell into a huge abyss. The problem turned out to be much deeper and begins to take on a threatening nature. Do you remember this topic? The issue of inactivity is much simpler — fresh blood is needed. Here at the very bottom of the post, under the triple spoiler, our penguin admits that he has started to fade a bit. But he will manage for quite a while at this pace; but many others? Just look at the "people" section! In an hour, 3-5 people register on the "project of the year". Not bad? Overall, yes. But let’s face the truth — here's the Perfect World blog. This is the most popular free MMO in Russia, every evening up to 35 (!) thousand users gather on the servers, with at least a couple of thousand on the game forum. However, out of all of them, only a maximum of a hundred have registered here, judging by this blog. Because they do not know about its existence.
But the problem is even deeper. How did I end up on this site? Once, I was searching for information about the Khajiit race (from the game the Elder Scrolls) and found a link to this site. I poked around a bit but did not register. Later, after almost two months of continuous surfing on the Internet, I came across maybe 2-3 direct links to the site. I only came back here thanks to the bookmark I made on the article I needed.
Repeat until you reach Nirvana: "Advertising is the engine of progress". Commercial advertising is very good, but if you see a banner "browser X — cool", and your friend Vasya says "browser X — sucks", whom will you believe more? I’ll believe my friend Vasya.
The site lacks recommendations. It is set up so that it is enough to entice and hold the user for 5 minutes — the rest will be done by the site itself. But many don’t even suspect that it exists or do not take it seriously — many first check the site's popularity by looking at blogs and Wikipedia. I think I do not need to explain what they think when they find no information there.
You, Wikipedia visitors — I do not even ask you to create this article. But what, tell me, what prevents you from writing a good article and inserting a link to it in the "links" section of the relevant Wikipedia article?
And you, cozy visitors? Yes, yes, Lurko-morye activists, I’m addressing you. Where? Where is the complete lulz article, where is the incredibly entertaining argument in the comments? GAMER.RU is full of lulz and memes, I guarantee it!
And you, the owners of cozy blogs? Why did I not find even a microscopic review on the first five pages of the search here? Did the masters and enthusiasts of the pen suddenly lose their keyboards?
And what about you, MMORPG players? I played those, I even advertised... Even the same Perfect World, which I left a couple of months ago — many find it hard to imagine what the reaction would be if you made the global chat talk about a subject for at least 2 minutes. Dozens, if not hundreds, will come just to see! Note, this is for 5 minutes and only on one server — personal experience.
And you, forum visitors? Why can’t I find even the smallest thread on gigantic forums? Even on specialized game forums? Many have city and provider forums — they are also empty.
And finally — friends. Even those who do not fit into all the other groups can help promote the project just by telling their friends about it.
Is it possible that you all have simultaneously experienced a creative crisis? I don’t believe it. What, has it really happened? Urgently read this! At least some ideas should come up.
Yes, there are advertisements and reviews — the link in the previous paragraph proves this. But, excuse me, is this normal? Even when searching with quotes (!) GAMER.RU remains in second place, with a bunch of junk next to it. Not enough references to this site to push it to the top position on a direct (!) query. Note that the project of the year, as we position ourselves, cannot get to the top of the search engine. Personally, if I were looking for this site — I would have found it. Reviews — no. They need to be reviewed under a microscope, those reviews.
What’s all this about? It’s very simple — the resource has long reached an independent peak of popularity — on the day of opening. And we missed that moment. So far, the resource is still riding the wave, but if it continues like this... If it continues like this, in the end, only dull copy-pastes and a slab with the inscription R.I.P. will remain here. For original materials, we need people, we need enthusiasm. For enthusiasm — we need trolls and competition. For that, we need people. For people, we need reviews and information that people do not want to create, because their enthusiasm runs out. A vicious circle. Isn’t it time to break it?
