Remember Me is a multiplatform computer game in the genre of action-adventure with a third-person view, being the debut project of the French studio Dontnod Entertainment. The worldwide publisher is Capcom. The publisher and distributor in Russia is “1С-СофтКлаб”. Release date: June 4 (USA), June 7 (Europe, Russia). Target platforms: PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
The events of Remember Me take place in a futuristic Paris – Neo Paris. The year is 2084. The city of romance, love, and poetry has changed dramatically. Old neighborhoods remain, the Eiffel Tower is still standing, the Bastille fortress is still in its place, but everything else barely resembles the Paris we are used to. Skyscrapers tower here and there. You can encounter robots on the streets. The influence of modern technology is visible everywhere. Cyberpunk as it is. At first glance, it seems that Neo Paris is quite a calm place, but that is far from the truth. Power in the city has been seized by the Memorize corporation – a truly totalitarian structure. It has almost enslaved the city's population, but, surprisingly, it has done so with almost no use of force. So how did the corporation come to power? The matter lies in memories, which became an important resource by the end of the 21st century.
Memory has ceased to be the property of the individual – it is bought and sold, just like everything else in the world. People, completely stripped of memories, have turned into natural zombies, outcasts unable to think and perceive reality. Other members of humanity have become slaves to the corporation, which gained the ability to substitute, cut, insert, and mix human memories. But it would be strange if citizens dissatisfied with such aggressive policies of Memorize did not appear. And they did appear – in the form of so-called “erratists” (from the word error), who began to resist the corporation in every way possible. It is to them that a girl named Nilin eventually joins – the main character of Remember Me and a professional memory hunter, who once worked within the walls of Memorize. Her own corporation almost stripped her of her memories through a memory wipe session, but Nilin managed to escape, after which she, so to speak, opened her eyes for good.
The dark-skinned heroine of Remember Me is not your average girl. She fights beautifully in melee (there are no firearms in the game), knows what parkour is, but the main thing is – she can intrude into people's minds (without the use of physical violence), steal their thoughts, and also substitute one memory for another. In Remember Me, there are several such episodes where one has to dig deeply and carefully into the memories of various people. This mechanic is implemented very interestingly, but it's a pity that the aforementioned moments occur extremely rarely in the game from Dontnod Entertainment. Most of the time in Remember Me, players engage in timeless activities – fights, fights, and more fights. The game features a so-called 'combo lab,' allowing players to build chains of individual attacks, strikes, and combos. Some strikes are aimed at dealing pure damage, while others have completely different properties – for example, they restore health.
