Risen 3: Titan Lords is a multiplatform computer game, the third part of the Risen series, developed by Piranha Bytes and published by Deep Silver. The release of Risen 3 in Russia and the CIS was handled by the company "Buka." The project was released in August 2014.
Titan Lords is a sequel to Dark Waters, although you play as a different hero. By the way, also nameless. The protagonist is the son of the pirate Gregory, known as "Steelbeard," and the older brother of the well-known Patty (one of the secondary characters from Risen 2). The game begins with the brother and sister going to a mysterious island to find treasures of an ancient temple. However, upon reaching the site, the siblings encounter a terrible creature that kills the Nameless. The grieving sister buries her brother with due honors and goes on her way. However, the story does not end here; it only begins. After some time, a stranger brings the hero back to life, explaining to the poor soul what happened and what he – the protagonist – must do next. And there is no secret here: the Nameless must save the world, and at the same time, his soul, with which, after the encounter with the monster, certain complications have arisen.
To accomplish the task at hand, the Nameless must go through fire, water, and brass tubes, namely: rally the powerful of the world (representatives of one of the game factions), gather a battle group to solve pressing problems, and acquire a warship for a raid across the seas. Like in Risen 2: Dark Waters, players have access to an open world filled with adventures and diverse enemies. During the journey, gamers can meet characters from previous parts of Risen: Inquisitor Mendoza, Jaffar, Slayin, and so on.
The second part of Risen gained some popularity among RPG fans in general and the Gothic series in particular, but it did not become a new milestone in game development history. The same fate befell Risen 3. Moreover, as negative aspects, players noted the almost complete lack of innovations while retaining the main issues that have carried over from one part of Risen to another. In this case, we are talking about a weak storyline and a not very convenient combat system.
