WarSide is a multiplayer computer game in the platform action genre, developed by the domestic studio Kraken Games. This project intrigues with its quite unusual style. A multiplayer platformer? It’s a very distinctive yet interesting solution. Imagine the ancient Contra Force, enhanced with 3D graphics and shaders, and you get WarSide. Although all objects and characters in the game are three-dimensional, players cannot switch camera modes or rotate it in different directions. Players can move their heroes forward, backward, left, and right, but this does not hinder gameplay; on the contrary, it enhances it. The developers have perfected the combat system and the camera itself, resulting in gamers experiencing no discomfort during battles.
In addition to adrenaline-fueled action, WarSide offers a developed RPG component. Players can create a unique fighter with unique equipment and weapons, as well as upgrade their skills and abilities. New abilities, as well as new types of weapons, can be learned after achieving a certain number of victories and as experience is accumulated. By participating in session rounds, gamers earn XP, thereby increasing their level. With the achievement of a new level, players can increase their defense, attack, and speed parameters. One should not forget about the resistance indicators, determining how much damage a character will receive from a certain weapon or any negative effect. Players can receive physical, chemical, electrical, and biological damage.
In WarSide, there are three opposing factions: the Galactic Commune, the New Empire, and the Zetta Corporation. Each faction has four combat classes: Mercenaries, Guardians, Huntresses, and the so-called Faceless. All classes are unique - both visually and in terms of their starting characteristics. However, this is not the main thing; each class in WarSide possesses a specific trait unique to it. For example, the Mercenary is equipped with a jetpack, allowing him to ascend to platforms or the roofs of buildings, while the Faceless can effortlessly cling to walls and any other vertical surfaces.
Regardless of the class, players can choose a specialization, of which there are five in WarSide: Demolisher, Scout, Engineer, Commando, and Paratrooper. Each specialization comes with its own skill tree, where a whole host of various abilities can be discovered. New skills can be unlocked and old ones improved using special points. No one forces players to stick to one developmental line; if desired, they can choose and upgrade several specializations at once. Nevertheless, in combat, only a limited number of abilities may be used, but this applies only to active skills.
Battles in WarSide are session-based; there is no open world in the game. Players can participate in either a quick battle or one of the pre-selected game modes. There are quite a few in WarSide. In addition to standard PvP battles, there are special PvE modes and missions where players need to play alone. It is worth noting that game maps differ depending on the planet. Yes, WarSide features many planets, so players will not be fighting in the same locations.
