Patch 1.1: removes DRM, fixes a multitude of bugs (updated)
"The Witcher 2" with hookers and blackjack, but without DRM
Last night, an official patch 1.1 was released. The main feature of the patch was the unprecedented action by the creators - the game has had all copy protection removed. This includes the Russian version. After this patch, the game can be installed on an unlimited number of computers an unlimited number of times.
According to CD Projekt RED, the main goal of the copy protection was to prevent pirate copies of the game from appearing online before the official release. The protection achieved its goal. Therefore, the company is fulfilling its obligations and removing all protection with this patch. However, don't rush to throw away your game code. It will be useful for all license holders to obtain new content for free.
In addition to removing the copy protection, the patch fixes the following issues:
1\. Fixed the bug with the free DLC "Troll Trouble". It is now included in the patch, and there is no need to download and install it separately.
2. Performance enhancement: from 5% to 30%, increased fps, and faster load times, depending on the system type and game version. Retail version owners can expect even greater improvements.
3. Fixed random crashes that occurred on some systems, especially after saving and loading.
4. You can now change the controls to use the "arrow keys".
5. Added the ability to invert the mouse.
6. nVidia 3D Vision now works correctly.
7. More accurate system tuning with the "auto-detect settings" option. This will help improve game performance.
8. Fixed a bug that prevented completing the quest "Blood Curse".
9. Fixed the issue with the monk playing dice (found in the Flotsam tavern).
10. GOG.com credits now work properly.
Important!
Please note that this patch has been released in multiple variants for different versions of the game. Therefore, the patch for the official Russian version will not work with repacks, versions with replaced witcher2.exe, etc.
During installation, the system will ask you to enter an activation key, but since The Witcher 2 no longer contains protection, you can enter anything in the corresponding field.

If you already have patch 1.1beta installed, there is no need to reinstall the patch.
Installing patch 1.1 for the Russian version:
1. During the initial installation:
• install the game from the 1.0.0.0 distribution.
• without launching the game, install patch 1.0.0.0-1.1.0.0
2. If you already had the game installed and one of the patches:
• patch the game sequentially to version 1.0.0.3.
• install patch 1.0.0.3-1.1.0.0.
3. Optionally, install the DLC.
4. Enjoy the game.
Installing DLC:
1. Troll Trouble is included in the patch and installs with it.
Install the DLC with the troll (if for any reason it was not installed with the patch):
Download the file with the add-on and place it in the CookedPC folder found in the game folder. The add-on will become available (on the quest board).
2. While the Poles haven't fixed the download from the launcher, bonus DLC can be downloaded directly from the official site:
DLC obtained this way should be installed after patch 1.1.
3. Getting DLC through the launcher is not working. The problem will be resolved in the coming days.
The patch was tested by the administration of kaermorhen.ru. It installed without issues on version 1.0, in a directory with a Cyrillic name; save games work correctly.
The developers do not plan to stop at what has been achieved. In the coming days, the DLC download through the launcher should work correctly. Another patch is expected to be released by the end of next week to address several less significant bugs. Stay tuned for updates.
