Call of Duty: Black Ops is a first-person shooter. The game appeared on almost all modern gaming platforms, including Nintendo DS. In just the first day, Call of Duty: Black Ops sold over seven million copies, easily breaking the records set by Modern Warfare 2. Black Ops is the seventh installment in the popular Call of Duty series and the third game in the franchise developed by Treyarch.
The main character of Black Ops is Alex Mason, a U.S. Marine and CIA agent. The game's plot is stitched together from his memories of secret operations conducted by American military forces in the 1960s. In addition to Mason, there is room for a few other characters in the single-player campaign of Black Ops. All of these "heroes" are united by one thing: they are saboteurs. People who specialize in stealth infiltration, detection, and elimination of targeted individuals, extraction of valuable information from computers and safes, planting explosives, and other not-so-honorable means of warfare. Moreover, these specialists in Black Ops do not operate alone but in groups. Besides traditional missions, the campaign will also offer players the chance to take control of a Mi-24 cockpit and command from the SR-71 Blackbird.
The multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops, despite the boundless love from the gaming community, does not hide anything revolutionary. It still features a rather standard set of modes for team and solo competitions. It is worth noting that Call of Duty: Black Ops, like World at War, Treyarch's previous development, includes a Zombies mode where players have to fight zombies, often using somewhat unconventional weapons.
