Lost Sector Online is a multiplayer role-playing game with tactical strategy elements, developed by the domestic company Lost Sector Technologies. The project utilizes both turn-based and real-time modes.
The events of Lost Sector Online unfold in 2035 in a country that somewhat resembles the United States of America. Four years have passed since the invention of the drug "Rebis" - a special agent that accelerates the regeneration of damaged and rejuvenates old cells. "Rebis" - a potential savior of all humanity - has become its killer. Initially, the creators of the drug limited access to the new medicine and the implants created based on it, depriving a large part of the population, with the exception of the powerful and military structures, of the opportunity to cure dangerous diseases or simply prolong their lives for decades. Naturally, this displeased those who were left out by the government. Realizing that they could not obtain "Rebis" through persuasion and begging, the opposition formed the "Coalition for Social Equality," whose main slogan was the promise to provide the drug to anyone who wanted it.
Under the banners of the "Coalition," a multitude of those desperate for "Rebis" gathered, including military personnel who were unhappy with the conditions set by the government - to possess implants and the medicine, they had to subject themselves to a lifetime of servitude. And it got worse. The country split into two opposing camps, and a civil war began, during which the megacities of the country were almost completely devastated, turning into concrete jungles devoid of life. The overall dire situation was worsened by the fact that "Rebis," which the "Coalition for Social Equality" managed to access during the hostilities, revealed side effects: psychoses and outbreaks of aggression. By 2035, the crucible of war had cooled down - there was simply no one left to fight, - and only weak skirmishes, more reminiscent of gang disputes, still flare up in various corners of the once-great country. Neither the "Old Federation" nor the "Coalition" were capable of conducting full-scale military operations, and the only thing they could do was divide spheres of influence and try to gain control over the so-called "free cities" - settlements that had not suffered as much from the war as other megacities, and therefore represented a certain value.
Broxton is a "free city" where Lost Sector Online takes place. The main character, created by the player through customization settings, returns to his homeland after a devastating war in which he directly participated. But alas - instead of a peaceful city, he finds the city plunged into chaos. Thieves, anarchists, and other antisocial elements have mushroomed up, eager to seize power in the unfortunate Broxton. This does not suit the hero, and he embarks on the path of yet another, albeit local, war, gaining the support of his comrades-in-arms. Only his actions will determine whether Broxton can be reborn or whether it will finally plunge into the abyss of anarchy.
So what is Lost Sector Online from the perspective of gameplay? The game combines several equal levels: the first - the global map of the city - shows allied, neutral, and enemy sectors of the city - the latter need to be attacked and liberated from enemy squads; the second - the so-called peaceful zone - allows to take quests, buy and sell goods, weapons, and consumables; the third - the combat zone - is the place where a specific battle unfolds. All fights are conducted in a turn-based mode, and gameplay resembles what can be seen in Fallout 2 or Jagged Alliance. It is worth noting that in Lost Sector Online there are not only PvE but also PvP modes, where players can measure their strength and find out who is the best fighter in Broxton.
