I want to delight you with fresh (and, it seems, the last) news regarding the confrontation of our series with the dull commercial line of [Call Of Duty](/games?search=Call Of Duty), which has managed to bury itself.
This time I present not just my authoritative opinion (which COD fanboys have desperately tried to argue against) but the latest statistics from Metacritic.
What is Metacritic?
It is a popular international resource that is completely dedicated to rating popular games across all platforms. The rating is divided into two categories – ratings from official publications, and ratings from players.
Similar to resources like www.imdb.com or www.kinopoisk.ru, the site allows for a roughly objective assessment of a game or any other project based on thousands of reviews from ordinary users.
Now only the facts and no nonsense!
As of November 12, 2011, things are as follows.

From the press, the game received a quite high 89 points out of 100 based on 49 reviews from various publications around the world (including Russia).
Player rating:
Currently, 1774 people have left their reviews - the average score is 7.5 out of 10!
It is quite a common picture when generally high ratings of the game are diluted with twos and other cries of souls from the inadequate. Moreover, I note – BF3 is quite demanding on the system, and it also does not differ in game stability. However, all of this did not prevent it from scoring quite respectable points – the difference from the official rating is only 1.4 points!

From the press, the game scored 82 points out of 100 based on 12 reviews.
It seemed like everything was great!
Player rating:
However, we then see a completely unanimous opinion from players and a total failure in ratings. Moreover, the failure is with a resounding crash and some incredible whirlwind of angry reviews. The average user rating amounts to 1.7 points out of 10! Moreover, 2606 people have already left their angry reviews!
I believe the issue here is that everyone expected a level of quality similar to the first MW. Unfortunately, the new installment is merely a pitiful shadow of those glorious days.
One can only imagine how much Bobby Kotick had to pay for the leading media to give high ratings to this backward game.

Just another cash grab for an old tired franchise. Releasing such a game every year is like a million slaps in the face to real developers who take their time to produce decent games with a good engine, great online, and a good story.

This game is just a piece of trash, a loss of 60 bucks. I just paid for the same thing, minus 6 hours of mediocre last year's campaign, plus 4 hours of an even worse campaign this year. I have no idea why I fell for this, (damn media hype!), but I guarantee I won't fall for this scam again.

this game is such a piece of trash what a waste of $60. I basically paid for the exact same iteration minus a crappy 6 hour campaign last year Plus an even crappier 4 hour campaign. I don't know why I got suckered into buying this game (trash media hype) but can guarantee I'm not falling for this scam again.

The campaign is short. The plot is so mundane/insipid that even a retarded child could write it. The graphics are worse than in CoD4. The sounds are just rehashed trash from the old CoD, all guns sound like toy guns. The streak system became from bad to worse (yes, I know that word doesn't exist) - to make it even simpler. This game is just some kind of a joke. This is a DLC for CoD4 ... And CoD4 is much better. Save your money and buy other games.

The campaign was short. Its story was so generic that even a retarded child can make it. The graphics is worse than CoD4. The sounds are just recycled junk from old CoD all guns sounds like a toy gun. Its streak system become from worst to worstser(i know there's no such word). To make it simple. This game is a joke. Its a CoD4 DLC.. And CoD4 is much better. Save your money and buy other games.

The multiplayer is largely [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2) with new maps and maybe 1-2 additional guns and 1-2 perks. This game does not deserve your 60 dollars, use them to buy map packs for [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2).

The game is boring nothing new if you compare it to [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2), single player is even worse than BF3 SP, multiplayer is exactly the same as [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2) with some new weapons. They didn't change anything worth mentioning, the graphics are boring and not much of an improvement as well. This game is just another overrated cash-draining piece of ****.

Perhaps human stupidity has triumphed in sales, but there is a rare unanimity in ratings. Even the most desperate hamsters have come to realize that the series is in decline and they are simply profiting from it.
of course, there are still COD fans who consider the game the best of the best. Even on gamer.ru

Modern Warfare
As you can see, the game's rating is quite adequate because at the time of release, the quality of the game was corresponding.
I would like to note that in the future, we will see new rounds in the confrontation of the series, but... This is unlikely to be true.
Let’s be honest - Kotick and Activision today have neither a quality team nor a leader of the level of Zampella and West who can create something new. The series is mired in nonsense and madness, becoming repugnant even to its fans.
There are also claims to [Battlefield 3](/games?search=Battlefield 3) - what would it be without them! But against the background of its competitor, they are not significant. Let’s hope that in the latest patches, Dice will fix client crashes and all sorts of minor nuisances, such as disappearing reticles or annoying chats.
