I want to share with you some fresh (and apparently the last) news regarding our series' confrontation with the dreary commercial series [Call Of Duty](/games?search=Call Of Duty), which has managed to dig its own grave.
This time, I'm not just providing my authoritative opinion (which the COD fanboys desperately tried to argue against), but the latest statistics from Metacritic.
What is Metacritic?
It is a popular international resource that is entirely dedicated to evaluating popular games across all platforms. The rating is divided into two categories – scores from official publications, and scores from players.
Similar to resources like www.imdb.com or www.kinopoisk.ru, the site allows for a roughly objective assessment of a game or any other project based on thousands of reviews from ordinary users.
Now only facts and no hearsay!
As of November 12, 2011, the situation is as follows.

The game received a fairly high score of 89 out of 100 based on 49 reviews from various publications around the world (including Russia).
Player rating:
So far, 1774 people have left their reviews - the average score is 7.5 out of 10!
It's quite common to see high overall ratings for a game mixed with twos and other cries of despair from the unreasonable. Moreover, I should note – BF3 is quite demanding on the system, and it also does not differ in game stability. However, none of this has prevented it from earning quite decent scores – the difference from the official rating is only 1.4 points!

From the press, the game scored 82 out of 100 based on 12 reviews.
It seemed everything was great!

However, we observe an extremely unanimous opinion among players and a complete failure in ratings. Moreover, the failure is with a resounding crash, along with some incredible torrent of angry reviews. The average user score is 1.7 out of 10! Moreover, 2606 people have already left their angry reviews!
I think the issue here is that everyone was expecting a level of quality similar to the first MW. Alas, the new installment is merely a pathetic shadow of the glorious past.
One can only imagine how much Bobby Kotick paid for leading media to give high scores to this mediocre game.

Just another cash grab for an old, tired franchise. Releasing a game every year is like a million slaps to the faces of real developers, who do not rush to release decent games with a good engine, great online, and a compelling story.

This game is just a piece of trash, a waste of 60 bucks. I basically paid for the same thing, minus 6 hours of terrible campaign from last year, plus 4 hours of an even worse campaign this year. I have no idea why I fell for this (damn media hype!), but I guarantee I won't fall for this scam again.

this game is such a piece of trash what a waste of $60. I basically paid for the exact same iteration minus a crappy 6 hour campaign last year Plus an even crappier 4 hour campaign. I don't know why I got suckered into buying this game (trash media hype) but can guarantee I'm not falling for this scam again.

The campaign is short. The story is so generic that even a retarded child could write it. Graphics are worse than in CoD4. The sounds are just recycled junk from the old CoD, all guns sound like toy guns. The streak system went from bad to worse (yes, I know that word doesn't exist) - to make it even simpler. This game is just a joke. It's a DLC for CoD4 ... and CoD4 is much better. Save your money and buy other games.

It's a CoD4 DLC.. And CoD4 is much better. Save your money and buy other games.

The story is shorter than any MW game before. Moreover, it is more boring and very linear. The multiplayer is largely [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2) with new maps and maybe 1-2 additional guns and 1-2 perks. This game does not deserve your 60 dollars, use them to buy a map pack for [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2).

The story is shorter than any MW game before. It's also more dull and VERY linear. MP is pretty much MW2 with new maps and maybe 1-2 extra guns and 1-2 twisted perks. This game does not deserve your 60 dollars, use it to buy map packs for mw2.

The game is boring, nothing new if you compare it to [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2), the single player is even worse than BF3 SP, the multiplayer is exactly the same as [Modern Warfare 2](/games?search=Modern Warfare 2) with some new weapons. They didn't change anything worth mentioning, the graphics are boring and not much of an improvement as well. This game is just another overrated, cash-draining piece of shit.

Perhaps human stupidity has prevailed in sales, but there is a remarkable unanimity in ratings. Even the most desperate fans have realized that the series is in decline, and they are just being exploited.
Of course, there are still COD fans who consider the game the best of the best. Even on gamer.ru

As you can see, the rating of the game is quite adequate, because at the time of release, the quality of the game was corresponding.
It should be noted that we expect new rounds of confrontation between the series in the future, but... This is unlikely to be true.
Let’s be honest – Kotick and Activision today have neither a quality team nor a leader of the level of Zampella and West, who could create something new. The series is mired in cranberry and miasma, becoming unpleasant even to its fans.
There are also complaints about [Battlefield 3](/games?search=Battlefield 3) – how could it be otherwise! But against the backdrop of its competitor, they are not significant. Let’s hope that in the latest patches, Dice will fix client crashes and all sorts of minor nuisances, like disappearing sights or annoying chats.
