A new gameplay of the game Island of Winds has been introduced
Publisher ESDigital Games and studio Parity Games have unveiled new gameplay footage and details about the plot of the atmospheric adventure game Island of Winds, set in a mythical version of 17th century Iceland. Instead of a traditional combat system, players are offered magic based on empathy, harmony, and understanding of the surrounding world.
The main protagonist of the story is Brynhildur, a young Keeper of Balance, whose peaceful life is shattered after a mysterious attack on her native settlement, during which her mentor also disappears. Guided by ancient magic and her connection with nature, she embarks on a journey across the fractured island to uncover forgotten secrets, help mythical beings in distress, and restore balance to a world that is slowly falling apart.
The new role allows players to get closer to the semi-open world, the magic system, puzzles based on interaction with the environment, and an exploratory gameplay experience closely tied to the narrative.
At its core, Island of Winds is a story about self-discovery, regret, empathy, and healing. Instead of solving problems with force, Brynhildur uses magic based on understanding and restoring balance, helping both humans and mythical creatures overcome internal conflicts and trials threatening the island.
Inspired by authentic Icelandic nature, history, and folklore, the game invites players to explore wind-swept coasts, snowy mountain passes, hidden lagoons, volcanic plateaus, and ancient ruins, gradually revealing numerous secrets.
Island of Winds is in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. More information can be found on the official game website and the game's pages in online stores.
