Enhance Your Weapon
Weapon modification is one of the important aspects of [Dead Island](/games?search=Dead Island). With a blueprint, weapons, materials, and a workbench at your disposal, you can turn a simple stick and an old knife into weapons of vengeance that knock enemies off their feet, set them ablaze, and make them spew their entrails.
In this post, you will learn where to find blueprints for modifications and what they provide.

Protip: Modified weapons activate their effect on critical hits. Upgrade abilities that increase critical hit chance for greater effectiveness!
Bleeding
Bleeding Butcher
The first type of modifications to be discussed in this post are those that cause bleeding in enemies. Bleeding deals significant damage over time. The duration of bleeding effects varies; sometimes it lasts longer, sometimes shorter. In rare cases, the enemy receives double damage.
Bleeding affects all enemies. Only blunt weapons can be modified with this type of modification.
"Nails" (Nail'd)
Nail Bat
This is the first weapon modification you will encounter. It is given to you by John Cena after completing your first quest.
Did you know: Nail'd is a reference to a game of the same name by Techland?

Modifications of this type, like bleeding modifications, are applied only to heavier blunt weapons. The modified weapons increase strength, and on a critical hit, the enemy is knocked back, and upon unsuccessful landing, they may take large damage.

Fire
In the game, there are only two modifications for melee weapons that are fire-related. On a critical hit, enemies catch fire and gradually take more and more health damage over time. However, caution is advised - contact with the enemy can damage the hero.
Fire is very effective against Thugs, as well as smoking and poisoned drowned zombies. The drowned zombie, however, takes significantly less damage from fire. It is also not advisable to use fire against the Infected - while they are burning, they run faster.
"Torch" (Torch)
Burning Baseball Bat
Torch is a relatively early modification for blunt weapons that allows you to ignite enemies. It is given by James Stein after you finish the unfinished word "HELP" near the lighthouse.

Electricity affects all enemies except for Thugs, making it a very effective choice in battle.
"Shock" (Shock)
Shock Scythe
An extremely useful modification early in the game. It allows you to easily kill Brutes, Strays, and Infected. John Cena provides the blueprint as a reward for finding the helicopter crash site.

Poisoning
Poisoned Brute
A series of modifications for sharp weapons. On a critical hit, the enemy starts to vomit, and during this time, they can be hit freely. Additionally, they take damage over time.
Poison does not work on smoking zombies, drowned enemies, and thugs. However, it is very useful against brutes and butchers.

Impulse

Similar to shock modifications, but for blunt weapons and with a different effect. While shock weapons stun the enemy and deal damage over time, impulse weapons knock enemies back strongly, deal large instantaneous damage, and often finish off the victim on unsuccessful landing.
Like Shock, Impulse weapons do not act only on Thugs.

While creating all these cool modified weapons, you might notice that you're short on money or materials for all these modifications. Here are some tips for finding materials:
Wayne from the rescue tower sometimes sells tape. When you see it for sale, don't be stingy and buy as much as you can.
Javier near the lighthouse sometimes sells wires.
Some wires and tape can also be found around workbenches in the surf shop (your first workbench) and in the lighthouse.
Rodrigo in the church sometimes sells detergent and scrap metal.
If you're lacking batteries, search more diligently through system units, printers, etc.
Money can be found in large quantities from cash registers and safes. The laboratory in the jungle has a large number of safes from which you can get up to 0,000 in one go.
Overall, if you have enough money, don’t hesitate and buy as many materials as you can from the sellers. They take up no space and may be needed.
Sticky Bomb

This modification allows you to turn a knife into a deadly explosive - throw it at an enemy, dealing mass damage.

Throwing Weapons and Others
Bomb from a Can is created from 2 deodorants and tape. Upon exploding, it deals huge damage to enemies and ignites them. The blueprint is awarded by Mick Fleur at the lighthouse after completing his quest.
The blueprint for Molotov Cocktails can be found in the hotel, in the room with computers that need to be rebooted. With just 2 bottles of alcohol and one rag, you can play with fire.
After restoring water supply to the church, you will be able to create Meat Cans from 3 pieces of meat and tape. They attract the attention of the nearest dead.
In the security room of the police station, near the workbench, you will find the blueprint for Pistol Ammunition. From 2 units of scrap metal and detergent, you can create 10 rounds.
On the floor above, opposite the room with the leader of the raiders, you will find the blueprint for Shotgun Ammunition. The same materials yield 5 rounds for the shotgun.
After helping Claire from the pass camp, you will gain the ability to make Rifle Ammunition. 15 rounds for the same 2 pieces of scrap metal and detergent.
While creating this guide, some information was partially sourced from Dead Island Wikia. Most of the information was taken from the game itself.
Good luck on your journeys through Banoi Island!
