Assassin's Creed 3 is a multiplatform action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The worldwide publisher of Assassin's Creed 3 is Ubisoft Entertainment. The console version of the game (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) was released at the end of October 2012, while the PC and Wii U versions were released in November.
The main character of Assassin's Creed 3, like in previous parts of the series, is Desmond Miles – a young man whose ancestors are all assassins and masters of stealthy eliminations of enemies (with rare exceptions). With the help of the well-known device, Desmond embarks on a journey through the vastness of his rich genetic memory, but he is now "inhabiting" not Ezio Auditore or Altair ibn La-Ahad, but a mestizo named Connor Kenway. Connor lives in North America, where a war for independence is in full swing. The emerging United States are fighting for their lives against Great Britain, which seeks to maintain control over the rebellious colony. Against the backdrop of the conflict between the Old and New Worlds, another war is unfolding, equally important and significant for the fate of the entire world. On one side, naturally, are the assassins, and on the other – their eternal enemies, the Templars. Connor Kenway, of course, belongs to the valiant order of assassins.
The development of Assassin's Creed 3 took much longer compared to previous games in the series, allowing the creators of this captivating game to introduce many interesting innovations into the gameplay. For example, players can now sail the seas as a ship captain and sink enemy vessels. The combat system has been redesigned, along with improved controls. The arsenal of weapons has significantly increased, and some of the proposed assassination tools appeared in the Assassin's Creed series for the first time. It is also worth noting that the approach to acquiring real estate and trading relationships in general has been rethought in Assassin's Creed 3.
Another interesting aspect concerns the new locations introduced in Assassin's Creed 3. If in previous parts of the saga about assassins the rural locations were quite standard and even boring (naturally, since most events occurred in major cities), now there is an abundance of variety outside settlements. Life among ancient forests and green hills is vibrant, largely due to the addition of various animals to the game. Bears and wolves, for example, can attack Connor, but the hero can easily avoid danger by climbing the nearest tree. Yes, players can now move across branches for long periods without descending to the ground.
In fact, the entire list of innovations could go on for quite a while – it might be simpler to say what is not in the game. Assassin's Creed 3 retains all the features offered to players in previous parts of the Assassin's Creed series: a powerful storyline, dynamic parkour leaps across rooftops, and 'living' cities whose inhabitants behave very naturally and realistically.
