S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is a first-person shooter with horror elements. It is a sequel to the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. The project was developed by the Ukrainian company GSC Game World, and the official distributor in Russia and the CIS countries is the company 1C.
The game takes place following the events of the previous installment. The government attempts to gain control over the Zone and conducts a large-scale operation called 'Farwater'. A group of military personnel is sent to Pripyat for aerial reconnaissance of the area and to create a map of anomaly locations. However, the plan fails. To investigate what happened, the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) sends its agent, former stalker Major Alexander Degtyarev, into the Zone.
'Call of Pripyat' is a mix of post-apocalyptic horror and tactical role-playing action. All events occur in the vicinity of the city of Pripyat. The in-game territory is divided into three parts: Zaton, Jupiter, and the city itself.
In 'Call of Pripyat', two new types of enemies appear: Chimera and Burer. Chimera is a cowardly creature that prefers to attack from the shadows. Burer possesses telekinetic abilities and can not only throw objects at stalkers but also pull weapons from their hands. Compared to previous games, the behavior of mutant enemies has become more realistic.
