Gravity gun - facts and some other things.
The full name of the device is the zero-point energy field manipulator (rus. манипулятор энергетического поля нулевого уровня). In Alliance reports, the device is also referred to by the code name "counter-resonance singularity device" (rus. устройство контр-резонансной сингулярности).
Throughout the storyline of Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One, the gravitation gun is significantly enhanced in the Citadel due to unexpected interactions with the "confiscation security system" — one of the Citadel’s protective systems. This counter-resonance gravity gun (rus. контр-резонансная гравитационная пушка), unlike the regular one, has a blue glow and fires a blue beam. The power of this gravity gun allows it to lift much heavier objects and push them with greater force than is possible with a regular gravity gun. The counter-resonance gravity gun enables the holder to keep and safely transfer energy spheres. The range of object capture is also increased.
The main difference between the upgraded gravity gun and the regular one is its ability to manipulate organic objects. This fact significantly expands the scope of applications for the gravity gun, which can now be used directly as a weapon: enemies attracted to or struck by the beam of the gravity gun immediately die, and their bodies twitch for a while as if galvanized. In the Citadel, the weapons of the enemies affected by this gravity gun are annihilated, preventing their use. Since all other weapons of the player have been confiscated, it can be assumed that this was intentionally designed so that the player could witness the full power of the gravity gun.
Interesting facts
* The gravity gun cannot directly manipulate organic objects, except for headcrabs, which die after the third hit from the gravity gun beam; antlions, which are knocked down by the impact, and antlion larvae, which die after the first shot.
* At the end of Half-Life 2, Wallace Breen, in a panic, shoots at the freed Gordon Freeman from his own counter-resonance gravity gun. Freeman is supposed to die instantly, but does not take any damage, although he is thrown back and appears to be stunned for a few seconds. It is unclear whether Freeman's suit is originally capable of withstanding the effects of the gravity gun, or if the matter lies in the fact that the suit, like the weapon, charged with dark energy.
* In the game Portal, there is a simplified version of the gravity gun built into the Portal Device.
* The upgraded gravity gun can be used on any game map, for which it is necessary to load a level that contains the upgraded gravity gun and switch to the required level using the console command changelevel <map name>. After this, the gravity gun can be obtained using the command impulse 101 or give weaponphyscannon, and in Episode One and Episode Two, using the console command (Physcannonmega_enable 1).
* The robot Dog, owned by Alyx Vance, has a built-in zero-point energy field manipulator, allowing it to pick up and throw heavy objects.
* In Half-Life 2: Episode Two, you can observe Alyx Vance using the gravity gun, while she notes that the gravity gun has strong recoil.
* In reality, there have been attempts to create devices for manipulating gravitational fields; however, they have not been successful, just like the attempts to create a sniper mount.
P.S. Never put your gravity gun in the microwave!
